With todays brilliant signings (assuming Dempsey signs)I can now see us as a top 4 club again. I might evn go wild and predict 4th if we do beat Norwich!

Well I'd rather we didn't settle early and did our best instead to try and get the manager's top targets.
Was he really one of our managers top targets or did we sell rafa and then realise we needed to replace him and dempsey was the best/only option. Who knows, but everyone seems happy so lets see if avb can get these players gelling as a team.
For me most players who come from lower teams at this stage are panic buys. It's just a quirk of mine but I prefer players who come from better teams rather than lower ones. Now I know that that might anger those who think that there are none better than us but I'm being realistic.
Technically maybe he is better. But Rafa had many flaws, he is very injury prone and I can't remember the last time he played 90 minutes for us, he is also not the fastest or most mobile player in the world. With Dempsey we've got an ambitious player with pace, goals and a bit of trickery who is likely to be much more reliable than Rafa.
Still not going forward at best treading water, another net spend of next to nothing. Mourtinho would make all the difference not sure if we were really serious in signing him.
So it seems your owners are trying to do things on the cheap? as the getting rid of carroll, rodgers talking about not having players on high wages sitting on the bench and now missing out on your targets even though you just had to meet the fee to sign them, something isn't right with your owners.
One thing about Dempsey that hasn't been mentioned is his aggression. Villas-Boas seems to favour a game with a lot of closing down, so it would make sense to bring in an attacking player who scores plenty of goals, but still gets stuck in.
He'd have plenty of opportunities to. Assuming Dembele's our Modric replacement, there's definitely a Rafa-shaped hole in the side.
He's all of those things G10 - AND we get another over the 'pool . Surely that has a certain value?? This is proving to be an excellent window. Get that contract signed DL!!
There is. But Sigurdsson looks like the natural heir to that role. I think he is talented enough to make that role his own.
