Everywhere is reporting the deal is off. Liverpool won't pay more than £4m(?!) and we want £7m, which is still too little IMO.
BBC reporting that fee has been agreed with Spurs and Dempsey is at their training ground for a medical. Are we becoming their feeder club? Most annoying thing is that we are now unlikely to be able to spend the money on our own signings.
Some Reporter has said on Radio that Fulham flew Nacer Chadli of Twente over to London today to sign him but have just put him back on a flight to Holland so he can play for Twente on Sunday!!!!, has the deal fallen through, possibly because the Dempsey transfer has collapsed at Liverpool. It's just reported Dempsey at Spurs Lodge!!!! Hold that Plane
So he's joined Spurs for £6m, vs the paltry offer from Liverpool. It seems really odd that Spurs get both Dempsey and Dembele - Although I'm not sure how it works for them as a team, i.e. given their other players. This late in the day (night), I guess it means we don't get Jenas (Please No!) or Parker (I'd be happy) as a makeweight, unless there have been some other very quiet talks.
Just been on the Liverpool board and there is a fair amount of "what would we want Dempsey for, he's not Liverpool class," flying about.
That's not overlly surprising, Fulhaman. 1. Liverpool fans do that everytime they miss out on a player. 2. We were all fairly scathing of Spurs when they stole Dembele. Football fans are emotional folk.
I also saw that arrogance and also they are trying to justify how they are a better club than Spurs - A bit difficult when our North London neighbours have a better midfield and better forwards. Unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat, having offloaded Carroll, Liverpool look a long way from seeing the path to recovering their former glories. Anyhow, C O Y W
Sky think Harry Kane or Tom Huddlestone might be heading our way as part of the Sp*rs deal for Dempsey, fantastic news if true
Ah well, that should be the end of the sorry saga but doubt it. No question that £6m is an absolute steal but as I said before at least the Double D's have now paid for 2/3rds of the new stand (all of it depending on which story about Dembele's fee you believe). I suppose, more accurately Spurs have paid for it.
BBC have confirmed the Dempsey transfer but no mention of someone coming the other way so doubt if that's part of the deal. Cash only by the looks of it.
