For me it has to be Moutinho as my main choice. . We need a deep creative link in midfield which can get forward . We would then not suffer the loss of the micro Croat. Loris second , and then third a quality striker would be my last wish. I should be so lucky. As a teaser I was not bothered if Lennon was sold to make way for Nani or Willian.
'Of course I am sad to leave Spurs and especially all the fans which have been nothing but great!!' Rafa on Twitter 10 mins ago
Colin Murray is goingto start a rumour Wesley snijer to Arsenal at about nine o'clock tonight as an experiment to see if it get's back to them through newsagencies etc.
Looks like I haven't missed anything. I'm not even bothering to look on twitter anymore - it's just frustrating me to the point of anger/rage.
This is how I feel. Mout is needed to sort of tie the old system to the new system. The players are used to playing with a similar player and he is integral to the system IMO. Lloris will be a great signing if it happens but we are currently weaker in other areas. Falcao - what a player
Yep you are bigging up Spurs way too much. Ath Madrid won a European trophy last season, we've haven't even reached a semi-final for over 27 years now. They are 8th in the Euro rankings, top tier, we are 27th, second tier, championship level if you like http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2012.html They last won La liga in 96, we last won the lge in 61, they have been champions 5 times since we last were champions. Oh and they've reached the final of the CL/EC, something we've never achieved. Also, the Spanish lifestyle suits a lot of South American players.
Anyone watching SSN think that Dave Bassett looks remarkably like Lord Charles? Ray Alan should be told!! (anyone under the age of 40 please Google it....)
Not even remotely in the same league, Dempsey is quality, Owen is finished. Also Owen can no more lead the line than Defoe, be a complete waste of time and money. IMHO
Well - that's a very convincing argument for Athletico Madrid but that table's always going to be a dubious source IMO. Arsenal sit in 6th position in it! And Napoli, BTW, are down in 56th, below Everton, Copenhagen, Rangers... I know we can sometimes be a bit EPL-centric but I think that financially we have to be similar to an Athletico or Napoli, don't we? I mean you can argue about the respective merits or qualities of the different leagues but there is a hell of a lot of money sloshing about the EPL. I would be very surprised if the wage bill at Napoli is even close to Spurs. I'll check it if I can. But you're right in also stressing that players will simply enjoy living in Spain more than Chigwell or Manchester. And in a country where they will get on with the language better. And their wages will go further.
Why is that table a dubious source? It reflects team's performances in Europe over th past 5 years. Madrid have won two European trophies in the past three years, we've won none since 1984, the gulf is huge. Incidentally, if Arsenal are 6th, they're there on merit, and they're a far bigger club than us, anyway, so it's no real surprise. Yes our income probably is better than Madrid's but despite that our performances have been negligible in Europe over the past 25 years, and domestically Madrid as I say have won 5 titles since we last won one.
I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear about some of these deals until tomorrow morning, often the way with Spurs, fans are the last to know.
