I just nipped into the Hornets shop to get my tickets for Leicester. When i walked in, who should be sitting there looking lovely and smiley but Lloyd Doyley and Don Cowie. What a lovely pair of blokes they are. I've seen them before and chatted a teensy bit after the Coventry games, but they were lovely, though i didn't talk much, i didn't want to seem too much of a saddo lol. However, i called my son and told him, and asked him if he wanted a signed poster, and he said he didn't mind, but what he'd love is if LD could tweet him...so i asked him, and he did! What a sweetheart. i bet he gets loads of requests like that, but how lovely of him to actually do it . One happy Hornet, and one very happy Hornette! As it happened
Thats the joy of supporting watford we get our big days out in fa cup/ Playoff games but can stil get a personal tutch from the club!
It isnt just Lloyd and Don though is it! They all do this kind of stuff,I am assuming there are"team orders" here but even so it shows the club cares about the community, I hope this rubs off on Mr B I would hate it if the club was to lose its caring reputation and attitude!
I can't imagine any of the "top clubs" doing that without charging ãx for the priviledge. And of course this greedy approach includes the likes of QPR.
Lloyd is a great guy - etc etc etc apple, american way of life and everything else that is good about Watford - EXCEPT he is not a very good left back - just coz mother Theresa is so good does not mean you would put her in your starting line up - or would you ( I know the fact she is dead might be a factor too )
Speaking of Mother Theresa playing football, I did once see a video of some nuns playing football, they were actually pretty good! some monks aswell recently in China... but that was in the Sun so don't know whether or not to believe it haha Back to the topic, Love seeing our players doing things like this
Actually I think Doyley plays better at RB than LB as he is less confident so does not go rushing forward exposing this defence so often
Quite right, Norway. I've got a feeling Graham Taylor was behind this ethos, which he made contractual in his 1970s management days. I'm assuming it has continued from then, whether that be tradition or contractual. Taylor also was keen on players seeing how the ordinary people earned their living so they would understand how hard people had to work to pay to watch the players. I think both these approaches make the connections between players, club and fans so much more genuine. The great Lloyd Doyley scored his goal, he wasn't celebrating with generic fans. We mean something to him, he means something to us. And we all love the club.
Watford are rightly known as the Family Club and a lot of that is down to GT bringing in that ethos in the first place
Sorry to drag this up again, but there's been an update! lol My son saw LD on a bench outside the Harlequin today, so went up to say hello. Not only did he remember the tweet, he also remembered me asking him for it in the shop! Top bloke that LD!
