No doubt the Celtic fans in Celtic Park on Wednesday night for the most part proved by their wonderful backing of the team that Celtic Park is somewhat special and when you have nearly 60,000 fans bellowing their support it must surely have an adverse affect on no matter who Celtic are playing. More the disappointment that on one occasion when Victor made a bad misplaced pass the howls of dissent were heard all over the stadium. On the night that roar of boos were completely at odds with the fans wonderful support and I thought it was worth sensible discussion. All season most of us fans felt that we were weak at centre back and would have felt that Wilson was the weakest of a sub standard group of centre backs. Wilson was a real star on Wednesday, quick covering the ground, not beaten in the air and tremendous tackling all over the back line. A wonderful display. Sammy who was the but of all jokes including racist, has of course played well since last November but for the hour or so that he was on on Wednesday night I think he was better than ever, his best ever display for Celtic. We should be really proud, every other team from these islands has cost at least 20 times to put together than Lennon's team. We should be proud of them all, stop worrying about transfer day, enjoy what we have and the deals will look after themselves. The team we had playing on Wednesday with Ledley and Kayal to come in or backup won't let us down.

With your original post saying you agreed I wrongly thought you were agreeing with a half wit. Thanks Espania also for pointing it out. Its good to know BigAudioDynamite at least two of us appreciate our fans. Unfortunately we don't say it often enough and wee miss stereo tries to pick holes when we do say it. Stereo is very mixed up and although quite old and lives not too far from Celtic Park has yet to enjoy the Celtic Park feeling from the inside.

Stereo You should be given a special prize for stupidity and misinterpreting posts. I shall try to make my posts simpler for you in future because I don't like to see any Celtic fan make a complete idiot of themselves. I don't see how anyone can claim we have the best fans in the world unless they have visited every club ground in world football. I think we have great fans but calling ourselves the Greatest Fans in the World is pointless and in my opinion wrong. Our fans are loyal and tend to stick with the team through thick and thin but at a club like Celtic thin times are fortunately fairly rare. In the case of clubs like Newcastle, Man City (before their massive spending sprees) and Man Utd, these clubs have suffered relegation and their fans have still turned out in force for years. I would not for a minute say that automatically qualifies them as better fans than ours but neither would I claim our fans are "better" than theirs. Added to which, Hoops stated that the fans booed Victor because of a misplaced pass? Hardly what one would expect from the best fans in the world. In my opinion there is no beating the atmosphere at Celtic Park on a European night, that does not mean we have the best fans in the world, we could lay claim to having one of the best stadia in terms of atmosphere, but that's a different thing altogether.
I agree with you. I believe that Celtic fans do generally have an excellent reputation in the wider footballing world but that does not make us the best in the world -although claiming it is no big deal as far as I'm concerned. In any case, if I have interpreted it correctly, I don't believe, even taking account of the thread heading, that sh was saying in his opening post that we are the best fans in the world. Just as criticism of a section of Celtic fans (namely GB) was voiced a while back by a few Celtic fans on this forum, I see no reason why sh or anyone else is not justified in praising our fans in particular instances or indeed at every opportunity, if that is something in which they take pride.

Indeed, and in my opinion I don't know who the best fans in the world are. I was proud or our fans in Seville and if they behaved like that all the time then we would perhaps have a claim to be TGFIW.
