I used to play Age of Empires quite a lot about 10 years ago, did anyone else here ever play on MSN Zone? Would be well up for a game if so...
AoE destroyed my life from 14 to 16, reached 2nd in the world on MSN Zone though! I didn't play the follow-ups due to developing a social life..COD has taken that over now..Mick I remember reading on another thread that you play Civ, up for a game one day?
I once played an 8 hour 1v1 on black forest, on a 56k modem that disconnected every bloody 2 hours. You definitely missed out hash.
I grew up in France so I bought my first "demi" when I was 14, 12 years after I still drink and take drugs, don't think I missed out on too much
You talking about AOE1 or AOE2? AOE2 was at it's height around 1998/99, it's what I played. Used to be like 80,000 players on the Zone playing it at any one time. I put in at least 40 hours a week on it, before I eventually got a proper social life. I was pretty damn good too.
I played AoE just before AoE 2 came out, about 1 year before that, AoE 2 made my ****ty computer (at the time) lag way too much, up for a game of it if you have any spare time?
never played AoE1, tried loading up AOE2 on my quad core monster PC about three months ago and it didn't like it at all, too powerful for it or something
I had the 2nd fastest Choson rush in the world and the fastest elephant rush with the Hittites in the world! Bring it on! (I'm a legend at Civ 4 too, and Colonization!)
too powerful for it or something I know it sounds weird that your puter can be too powerful for a game, but there's a setting that you can change to make it slower, ever tried playing Dungeon keeper on a fast puter?
I have AoE, AoE The Rise of Rome, Aoe 2 The Age of Kings & AoE 2 The Conquerors all in a handy 'collectors edition' on the 'xplosiv' label... please log in to view this image
I just downloaded the new Civilization V. Looks good. I have only played the first one when it was all 2D.
Age of Mythology was class. Nothing like attacking a big crowd of simple villagers with a 40 foot tall fire breathing Norwegian giant!
I go back to the Amiga days: Civ, Elite, Populous, Premier Manager, Sensible Soccer, Sim City. Then on PC: Civ 3/4, Championship Manager, AOE 1/2, Sim City 4, Cricket manager, Brian Lara cricket. Still play old games when I'm bored.
