Maybe we should, and then do a Mancity and say it was a mistake, or Wenger can give his famous line: I DIDN'T DO (SEE) IT.
That's why Schwarzer, or Friedel would have been good signings. I'd still go for Craig Gordon on a free personally.
technically, we can afford him, we have over 100 million in cash in our reserves, so we could put in a 100 million pound bid for him. .
You are absolutely pathetic... These signings go on on the background all the time, only reason why people have paid attention to this one is because of the date. This signing would absolutely have no effect on any transfer activity that happens for the senior squad.
He's a waste, we need to sign first team players, NOW, not some useless youth who will never play for us. But hey, he's the SPECIAL PLAYER Wenger talked about.
I think the point is, with Martinez, and several other young keepers at the club, plus Mannone, and Fabianski, this guy is going to struggle to play reserve, under 21's, or under 19's football. Yet at 17 he will have signed a professional contract with the club, and seems like an absolutely pointless signing. One area Arsenal are well-stocked is with keepers. Perhaps he'll prove us wrong - I'm personally very excited about Gnabry & Eisfeld, and neither of them were "celebrated" arrivals - but I'll be very surprised if he ever makes a 1st team appearance.
Oh, and I'm standing by my point after all the exaggeration over Chelsea after their signings. This Chelsea will in no way match the Chelsea with the best defense in the league and some of the most clinical strikers the league has seen. Like I've said on their board: "It's still very strange for me to see a Chelsea team that lets so many goals in though. If you had kept some of that defensive strength and get in some of this new creativity you'd be a force to be reckoned with. I think the "old Chelsea" would still amass more points over 38 games than this fresh one 9 times out of 10. I can see you guys randomly dropping points to lower placed sides at Stamford Bridge more often than in the past. I definitely fancy our chances against you guys a lot more these days anyway. Back then I was almost sure before the game started we'd dominate for 89 odd minutes for nothing to pass by your defense, and Drogba getting a random goal with his hip on the other end." On another thread I also said our midfield is overall better despite them having Hazard in theirs.. Think we'll get 4+ points out of the 2 games against them.
Bit harsh. How do you know he won't ever become our starter? Seeing as I doubt any of us have seen him play it's a little harsh to start writing his career off already. For all we know he could turn into a better keeper than Woj.
This is not even worth a discussion, read the press release about him. He's cover for "next gen" and some **** most of you haven't even heard. Not even relevant to the discussion in this board.
Mannone is average at best; Fabianski will probably want to leave soon and Martinez certainly isn't very good from what I've seen of him. I don't think we'd have signed Iliev if we didn't think he had a chance- why go through all the bother of getting a permit?
Dempsey's move to Liverpool is about to collapse apparently. Sadly it's too late for Arsenal to swoop. I'd have loved to have seen Dempsey & Essien signed today. That would have provided some serious solidarity in the middle of the park - defensively and creatively, with players with Premiership experience who could teach the likes of Frimpong, Coquelin, Wilshere & others an awful lot.
