Another toughie. My big recollection of these games was one in the nineties on an international weekend. It was first vs second at the city ground and with no premier action I reckoned we'd be a commentary game, but no, BBC world service were more interested in a relegation game as it featured Man City. I sat in my flat in Spain awaiting news and eventually it came in the shape of a Forest goal. The entire second half was a trauma as the Beeb wittered on and on about how big Man City were, and not a word from Nottingham until full time round up, when the result came in... we'd been stuffed 5-2. Imagine. Six second half goals and the Beeb did'nt even mention one of them. Useless cloud heads. I won't predict a score as my optimism invariably goes off in my face, while pessimism comes sadly true, but we'll have to be on our best behaviour to get much from Nottingham. Still, hope springs eternal, and after the Hull offside thing, we're owed a goal by somebody.
Thrashing forest in the return was the highlight of that season. It pissed down with rain at the city ground that year. Geoff Thomas scored and van the man was unplayable!
This one is a bit of a distance from me, further than Notts County last year. All the way to West Bridgford... I think I'll have to leave at half 2.
Looks like someone beat me to making the match thread for this weekend! Will have to get it out earlier next week! Anyway I think this will be a tough game for us and could easily be our first defeat of the season although I also said that about Birmingham and Leicester and the team have so far suprised me with some great performances. Forest have an identical record to us in the league so far this season and in recent seasons have been extremely hard to beat at the City ground although they will want to forget about last season. Lewis McGugan is the potiential match winner for them and will have to be watched carefully but don't forget they also have Simon Cox, Andy Reid and a whole host of players with premiership experience. Powell will probably once again name an unchanged side from the Hull game so I won't bother posting my team. I just hope Pritchard doesn't start out wide and this time we make some subs if the current game plan isn't working! Having said how hard it will be for us I could see us edging it 1-0
Posting twice in no way makes up for posting late, Belvedere. You have been wasting time with that studying nonsense again, haven't you? When I was an adolescent my parents tied my hands to the bedposts at bedtime to stop me studying as they said it would make me go blind.
beINSport1‏@beINSport1USA Sat on English #beIN (time in ET): Nottingham Forest v Charlton Athletic 10am, Torino v Pescara 12pm, Bologna v AC Milan 2:45pm #nffc vs #cafc on tv on saturday morning here in the states Heads up for any CAFC fans over there!
Sorry Belv, did'nt mean to steal your thunder. I just suddenly wanted to tell the story and there was'nt a post availible. Plus I've never done a match day thread before!
Same team except for Stephens obviously so Pritchard into the Centre Midfield and Wilson going out as holding Right Wing. Can see it being 1-1 with Kermit for us and Forest getting level in 80+th minute
Nope this time its not been studying its been sorting out my sunday league team for next season! So much work in running a team but season starts next week so everything needs finalising and I'm getting quite excited!
BBC is showing this match as being played on Saturday 31st August - honestly makes you wonder who's in charge there...
Its one for much later tonight, but on the basis that nowt much happens in the trensfer market, will we rest Stephens tomorrow on the basis that his head might well be all over the place? I'd be tempted to play Pritch in the centre and bring Green in.
My uni is in North London right next door to the Emirates stadium so going to stay at home and save a **** load of money! That way I can still go Charlton and run a footy team!
If his head's where it normally is during a game, I don't think we've got too much to worry about. Should have taken the money.
I'm with you Tewks. He's a good player but a very frustrating one. Well, we can't be that skint unless TJ has cohones the size of basketballs. We'll see. It could yet be a long night.
