How the **** does your point still stand? You were saying at least we don't start the season with Mertesacker like last year, WE DIDN'T START WITH HIM LAST YEAR, and WE HAVE ****ING STARTED WITH HIM THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cazorla looks class. Arteta is class. Who plays the DM role? No-one. Diaby is an AM, he is NOT Vieira, and is almost incapable of playing as a DM. Jack is supposedly coming back. Rosicky is supposedly coming back. Neither Jack, nor Rosicky, nor Diaby are reliable as far as injuries. Gervinho doesn't have a clue. The Ox is too young to be relied upon. Arshavin is too fat to be relied upon. Theo has a year left, and with each successive failure to sign a contract, will become steadily disenchanted with the club. If I were him, I'd ask to move now, why waste a year? I understand why RvP left. If I were a non-Arsenal fan playing for the club, looking at it right now, at 39m in, 39m out, and a nett total of ZERO ambition to improve upon the position from last year, I'd be leaving too.
We have 3 versatile players who can cover him competently at the very least. There isn't a single team out there that wouldn't be hurt by losing their best option in any position (City comes close). But we have good enough backup. We would still have more (and better) options this year in midfield though, if he doesn't come back to full fitness till say February... So was RvP. Getting another midfielder would be fine in my book, but I wouldn't bet on any signing on a transfer of less than ~18mil to make the first team. With our system that is plenty. When have we ever had more than 2 decent strikers? Was good against Sunderland, not so good against Stoke. If he's as good as he was the first half of last season, that would be great on its own. But there's no reason why he couldn't improve this year.
start, as in the start of the season. Swansea and Blackburn were at the start of the season no? As for the second part of your imbecilic post, I mentioned a tall, slowass, clumsy german on "his first season on the PL" for a reason. Try not to cut your wrists tonight.
I hope Wenger at least tells us the truth this time about why we havn't replaced players that have left. I know he won't..
You mentioned Pool and United, ;-). As for Swansea, we kept a clean sheet in that game, Mert's first game with us, ;-).
He already has, he has said Pod and Giroud are replacements for RVP. And that our midfield is loaded, so we didn't need Song.
If this kind of silly subjectivity is the way you expect the team to be managed, you need to be supporting Liverpool. Honestly, if you write off Jack/Diaby and Rosicky for injuries then RVP was the same and no loss whatsoever. If you write off all our players as "Unreliable" then ANY new player will be "Unreliable" for a year, while they find their feet. So if it is just spending money you are interested in, why don't we just give 100M to charity and have done with it. There the money has been spent. Finally, what are the club supposed to do with Theo? Give him the 100k/week and make him the highest paid player at the club by 20k/week, or sell him? Let's be honest, you are going to be pissing and moaning whatever they do!
I know thats what he said, but he was talking ****. Podolski and Giroud were already needed when we had RVP, they were not replacements
To the people that are mentioning "DM", we didn't really have a DM last season. The story so far is: - a more defensive midfielder out, offensive midfielder in - striker out, 2 strikers in - 2 midfielders due to come back - A more 'settled' midfield and defense from the start of the season. Getting another midfielder would be good, but they'll find it hard to get on the first team unless they are an unlikely 25mil+ signing. Moutinho would sure as hell not make it on our first 11. 22m for a 25 yo who's only played in 6th/7th ranked league in Europe is ****ing stupid.
it would be better to spend 100m on charity than the rubbish we're spending with Arsenal, this entire club is conning us the fans, just to make their money to balance their books. AFC= Arsenal Financial Club, maybe Wenger should **** off to work as executive for a bank, or the financial minister of a country if he's so ****ing interested in balancing the budget.
Jack is coming back from long-term. He will take MONTHS to be back to his best. Diaby hasn't had an injury free season in forever. Rosicky was out for almost 2 FULL YEARS with an injury and keeps picking up niggles - which will get more and more now he's over 30. If this kind of silly misplaced optimism is the way that you expect a club to be managed, I suggest you carry right on throwing pointless pounds at Arsenal for them to not spend on even vaguely attempting to improve the squad. Of course it is not just spending money for the sake of it, but you go ahead and throw out a ridiculous comparison to vaguely try and justify why the club haven't spent any money. Pick up the tag line of "we couldn't find any special players worth buying" that is spouted year after year after year as rivals strengthen and pull away, and Arsenal regress from challenging year on year for the title to relying on a poor manager for Chelsea and a Spurs collapse to scrape into the Top4. If Theo won't agree to the terms the club will give, then sell him. He seems a decent lad, but he's not worth 100k. Compromise, give him 75k and increase his bonus for goals and assists. Increase his appearance fee - a good one, especially with Ox coming on strong. There's a lot of ways around this situation. Arsenal are a club that only move forward because their rivals move backwards. There is a sum total of zero forward momentum and improvement at the Club. I hope they prove me wrong, I hope they sign Dempsey to provide competition with Cazorla, and a DM if Coquelin is not ready. That's all that's required. But instead, we'll be told there was nothing good available.
