We're alright at centre-half, as things stand. We've got 5 internationals in that position, in Vertonghen, Kaboul, Dawson, Gallas and Caulker.
With Lloris arriving I would have thought Gomes would leave now, when he don't make mistakes he is a good keeper but who will want him as he has played no first team football for a year, it is sad that Friedel's record of consecutive games played is going to end.
But if Dawson leaves you are left with 4 and with Kaboul out for a while I think you will need one but then I think Dawson will stay put.
Thudd cannot play CB in the prem, he's hopeless there. Maybe In Europe, even then doubt it. As long as Daws stays we're fine.
Loris is a massive name for me anyway, one of the best keepers in the world according to many. To me he is our marquee signing of the summer Moutinho may be better known, but from what I know (not much I admit) Loris ranks higher amongst keepers than Mouthino ranks amongst mids. I'll be delighted if we get Loris, furious if we don't.
I actually understand there's 5 hours, 1 minute to go... Any chance there could be an agreement Moutinho and DL could agree to a game of paper-rock-scissors to resolve all issues in time?
I can only remember Huddlestone playing centre-half in the Premier League for us once. It was alongside Bassong with Hutton as right-back, no holding midfielder, Jenas in the centre of the park and Pavlyuchenko partnering Crouch up front. We still beat Villa 2-1, somehow!
Really? I'm basing my (mis)calculations on the factoid that the deadline window closes 11 pm your time, which would be 6 pm mine.
Your post was at 5pm this end. Still 5 hours and 40 mins to go if you ignore the forum clock being rubbish.
Sigh - for all the good Joao and Hugo being at the lodge, it's not actually clear that any of the deals are near completion. According to SSN, Hugo's deal is 'some way off' and with Joao's personal terms being an issue, I can just see both of these dying in about 3 hours.
