Every team in the league won more games than we did, we were ****, by any criteria you can come up with, we were the worst team in the league(other than we beat Pompey on draws).

    The league table never lies

It's still the second best finish in 108 years so hats off PB.

Phil Brown is still held in very high esteem by most supporters

A bitter minority seem to have issues with his jumpers, his skin colour and his 'ego'. Stick to 'woman's realm' ladies......

Look at the stats- we've had no one better in 108 years.

To be fair, I think some have an issue with us barely winning a game for eighteen months. Stick to reading 'i want to suck Phil's cock weekly'...

That comes out monthly. I think you might be getting confused with ' I'd love to rim Phil's A hole weekly ' which comes out weekly.

The two should not be confused.

    1. although 8th doesnt get you a sniff at promotion , it is a really tough league and a reversal in just a few games could have seen us in the playoffs

    2. i thought Bruce was a good appointment , still do

3 during season 1 when we were in freefall i said i hoped we would replace PB if we survived , but keep him if relegated , as for season 2 he sould have been given the full season ,

4 I think Bruce will be on the sniff for a bruiser/elbows out type in the middle of the park

    5. Koren and Aluko also out defence is (bar Donny) quite tight !

    6. Chris Eagles , he was quality at Burnley not sure how he did at Bolton last season mind .

    7. should be in the playoffs ,but this leagues a twat to predict

    8. i never do Tigers predictions , its one of only two football superstitions i have
i can predict other teams scores and i expect Boltons game at the weekend to be a 2nil loss for them :D

Care to name a better manager?

    Thought not.

The bloke's our all-time best manager.

Why attempt to trash his reputation?

He's our most successful manager and I commend his achievements, if that's what you'd put, I wouldn't have responded. But instead you put a load of bollocks about people judging him on his jumpers and skin colour, which was petty nonsense, he was judged on a win rate of less 17% that season, which would see any manager sacked.

Last season's 8th placed finish was Hull's best since returning the Championship in 2010. Having spent two years in the Premier League prior to that, what has stopped the club mounting a promotion challenge since?

Money is the simplest answer, having been relegated with too many players on really big wages (wage amounts indicative), Bullard 40k, Olofinjana 30k, McShane 20k, Kilbane 20k, Ghilas 20k, we really struggled to offload players which meant that necessary squad strengthening due to the amount of players we had shed was really tough and until the Allams came in and cleared our debts (£40M+) we were in real danger of going a similar way to Portsmouth. Last season we were in with a shout of playoffs, potentially even automatic, but we ended up playing 9 games in March which pretty much killed our thin squad and killed any chance of promotion.

There is also the competitive nature of the Championship, if you consider that out of the last 15 teams to get relegated (not including last year's 3) only West Ham, Newcastle and WBA got promoted back to the Premier League the following season, and only one other of the 15 is back in the Premier League, Reading who were relegated in 07/08 and promoted last year.

From the outside looking in, Steve Bruce was a surprise managerial appointment over the summer. How did the fans feel at the time and have opinions changed since the season began?

There are too many of our fans who are getting on Bruce's back already, he's made one howler of a decision in signing Alex Bruce, not criticising his ability but if you sign your son and then play him he needs to be a seriously good player, but there seems to be some resentment at the fact he is not Nick Barmby. I'm personally happy with Bruce, when you're a Championship club, every manager you are linked with has done well somewhere, but had a mare somewhere else, i'm happy to look at the good jobs Bruce has done and considering some of the players he's brought in already feel that his reputation is working well for us with signings like Aluko, Elmohammady (not confirmed) Faye and Amos

Phil Brown is a name synonymous with Bolton Wanderers' past. He took Hull into the Premier League, but left the club under a bit of a cloud prior to their relegation. What is the fans' opinion on the job he did at the KC Stadium?

100% Legend. All the media stuff aside he has got Hull City to finish in their 3 highest ever league positions and led us to some amazingly memorable games - Wembley, 2-1 win at the Emirates, 2-2 at Anfield, considering how utterly gash we have been at points over the last 20 years it is a pretty incredible achievement.

The transfer deadline is fast approaching. What business have you done so far and are you confident of securing more signings before the window shuts?

Good business, we strengthened the spine with signing Amos, Faye and Proschowitz, adding Aluko on the wing / up front seems like a great signing already too, he's really exciting, the key business was keeping hold of Koren, Chester and Rosenior though. Still hopefull of confirming Elmo and potentially Mayer from Sunderland plus rumoured to be looking at another 1-2 players. All good stuff really.

Which player(s) do you think Bolton will have to be cautious about when they visit the KC on Saturday afternoon?

Aluko, he hasn't found his shooting boots yet, but looks to be a really good player who could be massively dangerous on his day, there's also Koren to consider, who many Championship clubs found out last year can find the back of the net from 25 yards.

Which Bolton player(s) do you think will cause the biggest threat to your chances of victory?

Seeing as your 'keepers always seem to have effing blinders against us i'm going with Bogdan!

Bolton have been tipped as potential title candidates this season, but have struggled thus far. Where do you think the Wanderers will finish?

Tough to say, there are probably 12 clubs in the league who have genuine promotion hopes and as I mentioned earlier, only 1 in 5 relegated teams in the past have bounced straight back, so you really could finish anywhere between first and 12th

What do you think the final score will be when the two sides meet on Saturday?

I fancy us to nick it 1-0, we've looked good at the back in the league so far, but feel we may struggle to score again

    Good afternoon, guys.

Thank you for the brilliant replies. It's good to be able to have a choice. In the end, I decided to go for Manuel's answers.

The article is now online at - http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/2012/08/31/qa-with-hull-city.html

Best of luck for this season. Hopefully we will turn up and provide you with a decent standard of opposition tomorrow. We haven't done that in either of our away games so far.

I look forward to coming back for a repeat of this feature later in the campaign.

We were one of the smallest clubs and we turned out to be one of the worst teams. We did no worse than was expected - even in the second season.
