Don. You have made one of my points (not near the first team) and asked the question that I am yet to recieve any responses on. Havent got a clue if he has any talent. Could be the best signing of all time but equally could fade into obscurity. Good luck to both him and you. Hopefully you will get fed up with Adkins soon and we can have him!
Im lost but if you would kindly stop writing in riddles then I would like to have a sensible debate on the topic
Ta! Went along to the Blackburn game as im local to Ipswich. Would still like to see you guys play Edwards on the wing where he is meant to play, and get a solid fullback with aerial ability in. Maybe stick Martin on the left, play Drury and Hyam in the middle and give Scotland regular matches up front with Chopra to lose some of his Stern John-esq weight! What do you all make of Chambers? Heard you may be in for Dan Seaborne from us?
Edwards for me has glen johnson syndrome. At full back you think he should play further forward but when played forward you moan that his crosses arent good enough for a winger. Would prefere a solid RB though. I think the problem with Chopra and Scotland is that they have such a similar physical presence it wouldnt work as a true partnership although to be fair they do play differently. We are also too fragile defensively to play 2 up top (as proved in our cup defeat at Carlisle - winning until we went 442). For me I would start with scotland as Chopra has been a let down so far (most wont agree though) Ive only seen Chambers once so early days but anyone is better than Delaney.
I think I will take that as a compliment! Can you explain any of your previous posts - Im not being funny just dont understand them!
Thing is with Edwards, he genuinely looks the best attacking full back we've had for a while and yes he is very suspect defensively but I don't think that would be a problem if we had a hardworking RW an 2 very good CB's!! I actually think what I've seen of him he has been far better for us at RB than he was at RW, I was never impressed with him in his time here he seemed to cut inside all to much whereas as a fullback he overlaps, which he seems much better at! Although saying that I geuss it was hard to judge him in the Keane era because noone looked good. There's no doubt we needed a recognised full back though however he can do a job there. IMO it's a shame he didn't start out in that position as I think he would have been better defensively and he would have been far more successful as a RB than a RW but he's played RW nearly all his career so doesn't have the defensive awareness. One thing I will say for him is he is in unbelievable shape for a 33 year old, he must be our fastest player!!
loach ainsley - chambers -smith Edwards - cresswell (wingbacks) hyam drury martin Scotland Murphy You never know (but I doubt it)
Maybe we should play with two up front just to give the opposing teams CB's something to think about. Can't be easy for Chops, always having two to deal with and it allows the other team to attack more given that we pose no threat ourselves in advanced positions. Scotland has looked better than Chops ever since Michael arrived, and has done more with his time on the pitch, but remains a sub. Some say the best form of defence is attack and that's partly true. If the other team are on the back foot, or worried about our forward players they will be more cautious. That's obviously not the case when teams play us. On Cody, he may or may not have potential, but does a team bring a player in just to boost the numbers? Surely they must feel that he could do a job if the situation where he was needed ever arose otherwise what's the point?
Loach, Ainsley, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell, Luongo, Hyam, JET, Murphy, Taylor, Chopra Thats what I reckon Jewell will go for
I'd replace JET with Martin. I have a feeling we'll go for the 4-5-1 formation with Taylor in the Martin role and Martin on the Right.
