There is no sign that Keds or Allen have even heard the rumour so how can they come out and deny it? Admittedly being based "oop norf" I don't get all the rumours circulating unless they are covered in the press but judging by the more local Gills fan reactions this isn't a widely known rumour so the chances that the club is even aware of it are extremely low. You ask how such a rumour can become public but yourself have mentioned it on two media sites, readily available to thousands of Gils fans. Not a criticism merely a point of fact. Personally I don't give this type of rumour any creedence seeing that it has no source, apart from "a mate (in this case brb) told me" and those sorts of rumours don't tend to come true.
There is a lot of rumours of Stuart Beavon joining Gillingham. I don't know if to believe it as I heard that he turned down Preston and is in talks with us.
BSG - it is some fair points you make and I understand what you are saying. Although I hasten to add, that I have known about these rumours for two days and had said nothing but they seemed to be escalating, hence I was just showing my disapproval for the reasons given earlier. Hoadie has just mentioned about Stuart Beavon, which I also knew about but deliberately left out of the content for similar reasons. I bet if not606 had started those rumours, I can see the comments in our direction now. As for the Martin Allen and Keds bit, that was more (I forget the word I'm looking for) wishful thinking, to put paid to the comments. Hoadie - Ked contacts? Come on mate get on the phone ps. I think this site might crash today, struggling with 2,240 people on line and those numbers will continue to increase.
surely we should be looking for full back and not strikers!! or maybe the striker rumours are just to keep people off of the full back signing scent
I haven't said anything about it as I know Keds is happy at the club, he was last time I spoke to him a week ago, he said he would like to finish his career at Gillingham and hopefully stay at the club after he retires so any rumours are rubbish.
Where have these Beavon rumours come from?! I have tried to distance myself from the rumour mill but if we get Stuart Beavon it would be incredible, he was one of the better league 1 strikers last year. I do however class this rumour as rubbish though personally because I thought Wycombe didn't want to sell him for less that a million...
I've heard a rumour that if we don't sign anyone today, tomorrows team will be from our current pool of players, I have no evidence to support this. But it comes from a reliable source.
It has been boring for us really but then I did not expect any more signings, we have got a very decent side at the moment, even the defence is strong.
I think that both Preston and Millwall offered 150k for Beavon, which is well short of the 400k that Wycombe want, so I doubt we've got any chance
Heard 250k is the fee he left for, sure we could have got that together however I think we have enough upfront.
Trouble is Hoadie, it was all that rubbish about Keds that kicked all these rumours off, which is why I was so vehemently dismissing them.
