Doesn't void your point at all, but he's just captain of the Japanese Olympic football team. Not full captain... yet! Like signing Ryan Giggs instead of Steven Gerrard (ignoring their ages).
If we're going to be pedants, you're also talking about revenue not profit. Not sure how the deal works with Umbro, but doubt we'll be getting above 50% of the money from shirt sales.
Don't know how it works either, hence why i said "ashamedly simplified". But we could always start marketing 'Hello-Kitty'-themed Saints training gear; that would go down a storm!!
Japanese girls are awesome. Not that I know any but in my limited experience, they seem like fun people.
Im not the only person that noticed the massive increase in Japs when we signed Tad Lee? With their Captain too i think OP makes a very valid and good point!
Is Jap still acceptable in this day and age? No making any judgment myself, I only recently stopped using P***. Joe, we need you!
Hello! Errr, I dunno, I wouldn't risk it. There was a Popeye episode called "You're a sap, Mr Jap" and that was very racist.
So, you're saying that we can say it, but not if there are any Japanese, media or police present. Gotcha.
Just looked it up. Apparently US media started saying it during WWII simply because it's monosyllabic and you can make a lot of snappy puns with it. After the war was over, Japanese-American people decided they thought the term was derogatory and they wanted people to stop using it. I suppose the same goes for over here. However, in places like South Korea and Singapore, the term is commonly used and is not considered an ethnic slur.
Yeah, but Koreans don't particularly like the Japanese anyway. It's a bit like us and the French times 10.
Tadanari was subjcted to racial abuse when he played for Korea (u21s? not sure) so switched to Japan.
Might have something to do with the fact they were fighting on one front, whereas we had a little problem called Germany to deal with.
And there were holes you could drive a landing force through (literally) in our plan for defending Singapore (our equivalent of Pearl Harbour). In fact the Japanese came very close to invading Australia. The battle of the Kokoda Trail saved them. Written about in a very good book called 'Green Armour'.
