Is this the guy who used to play for Palermo? Couple of years ago was rated among the best defenders in Serie A.
It's the same guy. Steve McLaren bought him for something like £10 mill I believe. But when Magath came in a year later after McLaren got the sack during the previous season, he wantet his own players and they subsequently shipped him out on loan to Roma. This would be a very smart move and could during the next couple of years prove to be maybe our biggest coup.
Quality, intelligent players will always gel. He's building a very balanced squad, not anyone he can get his hands on. MH mave have had lots of players on his list before the season started, but they wouldn't have been names plucked out of thin air. They all ŵould have had the exact attributes he wanted regardless of who we would have ended up with. I've stated before on this forum how much detail MH finds out about possible new recruits before he signs them, so stop thinking he's playing some sort of raffle......
Yes, hes the one who was great for Palermo. I cant believe we are going to get him, he is total quality.
He did have a reputation for "partying" while at Palermo and was due to move to Spurs a couple of years ago but fell through allegedly for that reason. Hopefully has calmed down.
