talksport just announced that the club have confirmed Sinclair's departure AND Hernandez arrival. Press conference at 1pm
I feel a little sad to see Scott leave, but fully understand the why's and the wherefore's of his decision to join Man. City. I wish him all the very best for the future. He took some flak for his overall contribution last season, but without his Championship goals we would not have made the step up to The Premier League. For that reason alone,he should be remembered fondly. So thanks Scott, you are a Swansea City legend. In my eyes, anyway. Thanks also to Brendan Rodgers, for bringing you to The Liberty. Whilst Rodgers has many detractors on this board,we wouldn't be where we are now without his input. Perhaps time will soften his image hereabouts, and he will also achieve legendary status.
i still cannot understand the logic of man city wanting/buying him, imho a legend in the champ but not a club legend, i honestly cannot see the guy get a game unless in the cup or if they are smashed with injuries
I was a bit surprised at this signing, Sinclair seemed to struggle last season and is a limited player. He's young enough to improve I suppose but I can't see him getting in the Man City team.
Agreed, Vetch. We owe Sinclair a hell of a lot. Without his 20+ goals we'd have never made it and I wish him all the best. Little bit doubtful whether most of us will say the same about Rodgers though. He was instrumental in delivering Prem success for a number of reasons but the Allen saga well and truly blotted his copybook with me. Whereas the move was perfectly legal there is little doubt that he used his inside knowledge to circumvent the no-touch agreement which meant that the approach for Allen flew in the face of the spirit of what was agreed. Anyway, onwards and upwards. Looks like we're replacing one player with a better one. Just like we did with Allen. As for Sinclair not getting games, I suspect he knows this. My how times have changed since Chelsea. Didn't he come to us because he was fed up of being left out? Oh well.
I just wish Scott all the best and thank him for his great contribution in getting us where we are. Should he ever return to play against us, I will have no hesitation in leaving my seat and applauding him. He was a huge factor in our success and now we cash in to the tune of £5/6 million profit to take our club on. Respect and thanks from me, Scotty, and every good wish for the future.
I still thing the wag had a say in this. But who cares? Thanks, tara. We'll replace with better and for less money. Great deal for us.
I am also of the opinion that BR acted less than honourably over the Joe Allen saga, and he disappointed me a great deal. I thought he was better than that. However,he's part of our Club's history now,and under his stewardship the Club gained access to the Premier League. Not to accept that he did contribute greatly to our recent success is a tad regretful. Sad to see that two of our most successful managers are held in such low esteem by many here. Perhaps,in the fullness of time, both Martinez and Rodgers will be forgiven for their mistakes, and given more credit for their achievements.
Deal confirmed on the Beeb: http://bbc.in/O5u8mg I think Martinez was a saint by comparison, Vetch. Just ill-advised really and I've warmed to him a lot since. But I was really disappointed in Rodgers and like you thought he was better than that. Apparently not. Doesn't mean I can't recognise his contribution though.
sssh! wait until the cheque has cleared Agreed that without his goals, we'd still be championship and he will always be a Jack bastard in my book, and I'm certain he'll get a good reception when he returns (probably playing for scunthorpe on loan in a cup game). He's got to have the ambition to get in the Man city side so good luck to him. Can't see it myself though. It's good to see the board making a stand on players going for free, and once he said he wasn't renewing his contract the writing was on the wall.
Yes, as it turns out the Board did well. If you look at the timing of it when we signed Hernandez we suddenly accepted the earlier bid we'd rejected. There was no way we were going to get more than £6.2M for him imo. If it's revealed we got more I'll be delighted.
