http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19418479 8 million with add ons. Does anyone know what the highest ever is for a championship player? That has to be up there. Sure makes our 2.6 for prosh seem small in comparison.
Pretty sure the fee is 4.5m with add ons that rises to 8m. Either way it is a huge fee and don't think he is worth it
He banged in a few goals can't deny that, but 8 million that's mad. A guy I work with is a Huddersfield fan and said he is fairly inconsistent, he will have one good game out of 3 , and when he is poor he is very very poor, reckons they won't miss him
Seems like a total gamble to me for a team who need to bounce back to the prem straight away. For much less than that they could've acquired a more proven striker (at higher levels) Does anyone else hope it backfires?
Crazy money, Can't think of any bigger championship-championship fee although Fletcher's and Jarvis' transfers beats it from championship-prem and league 1 Delph to Villa for 6m is close.
Regardless of initial fees and add-ons, it will ultimately cost Blackburn £8m - quite frankly a ridiculous fee - after losing £3m signing Leon Best I assumed they'd sign someone on loan to come in for him, not make it a round £11m.
I can see what the bloke you know is saying. He only scored 40 goals last season, needs to pull his finger out
I watch Huddersfield quite a lot, Rhodes is a quality player, he's scored 2 in 2 already this season, I'd say 8million is about right for him. As for comparing him to Fryatt, Matty is a decent player but nowhere near the quality of Rhodes.
I will be surprised IF Huddersfield get the extra £3.5m from what ive seen of Blackburn. They have just had 2 very lucky wins and we all know what happens when the luck runs out. Blackburn @ TWS this saturday so that may help answer a question or two at least. 40 goals in league one does not make you worth £8m quid. But then this is football and Blackburn are desperate. Big pressure now. Huddersfield after DJ Campbell and may go for local lad Fraizer Campbell on loan. Interesting. The difference is that Matty scored 16 goals in a higher league. Only time will show just how good Rhodes is. One thing though its pushed up the price for a proven championship goal scorer. Rhodes could have done better in January if he had waited,, imo.
Think i am the only one who understands this, the loss of revenue for Blackburn by been relagated is about 50M, spending 8 million to get you there is worth it, but its a huge risk. However i highly rate him, great player, may have to consider his position in my Fantasy team now mind.
So, if like FT says, that would mean that as well as Campbell and Rhodes, Blackburn would then have Goodwillie, Rochina, Best, Kazim Richards, Nuno Gomes and Edhino as well. 8 strikers? Are they the new West Ham? Compare that to our squad, we have Proschwitz, Fryatt, Simpson, McLean and at a push, Aluko if he's played there.
