He wouldn't go. British players barely ever go abroad.

Foreign clubs don't pay double the market value for British players, that's why.

To be fair, when Brits go abroad, we only tend to learn one sentence of that foreign language 'How much is a pint?'.

    There is that.
Also "grit" and "determination" aren't valued over footballing proficiency as much abroad.
And Brits just don't go. Who has gone in the last 15 years?
Beckham, Rush, Owen, Woodgate, Pennant, Barnes, Ince...struggling!!

not many have gone over seas successfully the few I can think of is Platt, Mcmannamn (sp?), Beckham. English players who could make it overseas from this generation I would say is Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard (a few years ago), Wilshere, Ashley Cole others??

Paul Lambert went over to dortmund in the mid 90s, left Motherwell for free, and won the CL, was very highly though of over there and they did not want to lose him, but as is common his family were homesick so the chance to come back to Celtic was too good to turn down. was actually a very good story, went from mothwell to winning the CL in 2 years, not often that happens.

Only foreign clubs (outside of GB, so you don't have to worry about Rangers poaching him) <laugh>

Other English clubs can only approach him on a free in May or June, I'm not 100% sure which one (it's either 1 or 2 months from the end of his contract, which is on 30 June 2013).

RT @Arsenal: Wenger on transfers: 'We are active but we don't want to bring average players in'

Sounds like he's preparing his excuse that the right players wern't available

I think in full it was 'We are active but we don't want to bring average players in because we have enough of them already'

But seriously, I'm getting tired of Arsene saying 'We don't have the financial muscle to compete with other clubs' really? Yet somehow we seem to be charged very highly to watch Arsenal. All the sales of these players and yet we can't compete but we can keep average players on a wage that exceeds their talent. I don't want Arsenal paying over the odds for players, that would be stupid but I refuse to believe every decent player's only incentive is money.

Yes but what would Vermaelen, arteta, sagna think if they saw Walcott earning more than them

Exactly. Made that point earlier. Walcott's performances does not deserve the supposed increase in wages he is after.

Talking about Ian Rush. Here is a brilliant quote from the man himself.
