Brazilian number one set to seal Loftus Road switch

The English Premier League is the best division in the world. Everyone wants to play here and I am no different."

    Julio Cesar

    EXCLUSIVE: JULIO AGREES DEAL

Brazilian number one set to seal Loftus Road switch

LEGENDARY Brazilian number one Julio Cesar has agreed a four-year deal at Loftus Road.

The 32 year-old goalkeeper – who has 64 international caps to his name – has agreed a contract until the summer of 2016, after leaving Inter Milan.

The deal, however, is subject to the player receiving international clearance and being granted a visa.

The imminent arrival of Cesar – who won the Champions League and five titles with Inter during his seven years in the San Siro – represents quite a coup for QPR manager Mark Hughes, who expressed his delight at the arrival of the experienced shot-stopper.

And in Rob Green, one of the best keepers in the Conference!!

Cesar is a great signing, still one of the best keepers in the world but never been quite the same since his car crash a couple of years back. But lets be honest, he wouldn't be coming to us if he was??

Whilst I rejoice in the news of this signing, it does prompt some important questions about the recent signing of Robert Green...

[1] Did Hughes sign Green believing that he'd signed his first choice goalkeeper for the coming season?
[2] If so, why has it only taken two league games to decide that this was a massive mistake?
[3] If not, why sign a guy who presumably believed he would be first-choice 'keeper and presumably agreed top wedge to come?

This has all the hallmarks of Hughes panicking and buying the first 'new' keeper he could get his hands on.

Nonetheless, I'm delighted with Cesar and hope his signing acts as a magnet for Carvalho, Dawson, Mbia and Granola (or whatever his name is).

What a signing! Amazing that we can attract players like him here, and also reassuring to see what TF has said on the offical.

Blown away that we have managed to pull this off - that is AMBITION for you. Oh and I wonder what is going through Kenny's head now - still tinpot?

He signed Green cause he was free, and David Mac said the wages talked about in the press were way off. We were always going to need a second keeper as it was clear the Kenny wasn't going to stay if we did sign another keeper.

I reckon Green was going to be first choice, but having had a golden nugget thrown at him, Hughes would have been stupid to turn Cesar down. Ok that leaves us with an over qualified keeper sat on the bench, hopefully he'll stay and keep fighting for a place. But if he doesn't want to stay, we now have a good keeper under contract who we can now sell at a profit and bring in a younger keeper to deputize.

Fair questions mate. But I don't believe this signing is based on how Green have performed so far. Simply an oppurtunity that has arisen because of Hughes' connections, i.e. sharing the same agent as Cesar, Tevez etc., Kia Jorobchian. We got lucky that's all. Quite sure this is one of the reasons Hughes got the job in the first place.
