Whereas if barmby had still been manager and signed his son all the barmby bummers on here would have loved it and not mentioned nepotism even though hes still a footballing sperm and never played a meaningful game. To clarify, this is no negative Bruce out, anti Bruce dig or anything of the sort. Steve Bruce's CV would indicate that he is far from being a blithering idiot. Maybe a Poll on how many knee jerk fans we have would be more appropriate today ? Good point almost made . Without the insults , I remember when we got Barmby as manager there was a lot of hopeful talk that we could sign his son in the future , i admit i never batted an eyelid at the thought the manager would sign their son back then - dont think anybody did , it only concerned me about Bruce because it was a hot topic at the time :/
Well said - this post sums exactly my thoughts too. I can't believe anyone would judge a manager after 3 games. I will say my only slight concern is a possible bit of nepotism in forcing a system around Bruce Jr - although it's only been in away games so far. But even that would only become a major issue if it blatantly wasn't working and he persisted with it.
2 points: 1) Barmby would never have signed his own son, as unlike Bruce he knew the backlash from fans/press would follow if it didn't go well. 2) Barmby's son is one of the hottest prospects at the biggest club in the country, Bruce is a Ipswich and Leeds reject (2 clubs who were well below us last season).
