If you believe that Fergie will stop fighting tooth and claw to win the premiership after this season and just be satisfied with a top four finish then I think that it is you who needs to get to know him a little better. He never, EVER settles for anything less than being the best.
He will try to win but he will not win and sacrifice Utd's future to just keep old players. He will do what he did before and scrap this Utd team and start again. This is what he is doing. We have bought so many young players. Have shown bids to atletico for De Gea who is 20 btw. We are rebuilding through youth and I don't expect any marque signings or anything like that. It will be young players.
There isn't much point in explaining yourself to Nohlman. He clearly has some sort difficulty understanding our points.
Please do name one manager which has been honest about transfers which involve his own players? Nohlman, the English press tell lies on a regular basis. So, therefore lies must be told to them too.
Obertan 20 at the time Bebe 20 at the time Valencia 23 at the time Hernandez 21 at the time Smalling 20 at the time This summer Linked with 20 year old De Gea shown bids and Douglas Costa who is 20, Welbeck returning who is 20 and Cleverly returning who 22 and Kiko returning who will be 20. All set to games to And there is Pogba, Morrison, Tuncliffe maybe Cole who will all get games and bigger roles. We are buying young and this is a fact. Only one play over 23 and that was free Owen at 29, who is a outlier and not part of any trend just one off. If you can't see we are building a new YOUNG team you are blind.
We signed Berbatov for a record fee 2 1/2 years ago at 27. We signed Hargreaves the year before and he wasn't youthfull. We signed Carrick not long before that and he was over 23 when we bought him. We also bought Lindegaard who is 27 just back in January. Fergie will buy the right player when the right player becomes available. When it comes to the majrity of his transfers they will be young players who still need to develop, players he can still mould, but when he sees a player who is already established who also fills a need that the team has, he tends to go for him. Fergie will not replace Scholes with a 20 year old unheared of player, that much Fergie has pretty much said himself, we will spend big to replace him and Giggs. As for our strikers, yes Fergie said we have plenty of strikers, that's plenty now. If as many expect we sell Berbatov, Owen leaves on a free and Diouf is sent packing, we are 3 strickers worse off than when Fergie said we have plenty of them. Therefore, simple mathematics suggest that we could buy another striker and still give Wellbeck and Macheda more game time than they have had. Personally I think Wellbeck will either stay or be used as a makeweight for a transfer for either Henderson or Rodwell and that Macheda will move on either this summer or next. It's unlikely we will want to sell Wellbeck but depending on how much Fergie wants Henderson and Rodwell he may be persuaded to let him go. You talk about us making a bid for De Gea, that's been refuted, may be true but it may not be, it's nothing more thanpress talk and has thus far been denied. We are interested in De Gea, no doubt about that, but we were also watching Manuel Neuer and Maartin Stekelenburg who are 25 and 28 respectively. Fergie buys who we need, end of.
Sorry we don't have the luxury of buying who we need anymore. We have huge debts and must buy players with resale values. Ferguson has even talked about resale values. We will not sign anyone for big money above 26 years of age due to no resale value. We must buy young also for this reason so we can sell those players when they hit peak form when they want to go or when we need to sell.
On signing Hernandez before Ferguson said: "We like doing these kind of deals where we can identify young talent. We've been good at that over the years. There is the odd exception when we sign an older, more mature player like [Dimitar] Berbatov, but when you sign a player for that kind of money, you know there isn't going to be a resale value. "It always comes down to signing a player who we think is going to improve us or maintain the level we are at." Resale value is so important so you can forget your sneidjers etc in the summer
You conviniently didn't mention this part "It always comes down to signing a player who we think is going to improve us or maintain the level we are at." Fergie said all of those things, that's true, but this has been his philosophy since he started at United. It's been his philosophy in the last 3, 4, 5, 10 years and more. He buys who he needs, simple as. He also stated that he would spend big on replacing Scholes and Giggs. He also confirmed that we sign mature, experienced players like Berbatov on occasion, we have bought a few of these players in the last 5 years. No more or less than usual. Nothing has changed in Fergies transfer dealings, he's always looked for youth, but unlike Wenger he's managed to find the right blend between youth and experience to maintain success. You are reading a paragraph and only focusing on one sentence of it, as a result you're missing the context. The only thing that's changed is that since Abramovich took over Chelsea and Mansour subsequently has taken over City, we are not the biggest spenders in the country but the expectation of some fans is that we buy players at the same rates as both of those clubs. All I can say to that is, over the last 4 years, who's won the most. You can include Real Madrid in that too.
why not? the condition was if I became more positive you guys would not call me horrible things. That deal was broken and I was called names and told to die of aids and get cancer.
Great argument. Except our debts were even higher and profits were much lower when we spend a total of ã65 million on Hargreaves, Carrick and Berbatov, players who we could now reasonably expect to have a resale value of about ã20 million max.
Well, so far this season: Owen has played 13 games Macheda has played 12 games Obertan has played 15 games So if Owen and Obertan leave, that's 40 games for Welbeck and Macheda between them in all competitions. Sorted.
