If things carry on like this i will soon be joining the 'Jewell Out Brigade' and once i'm on board i will not be changing my mind like some of you flippant lot
There are only a few of the "give Jewell time" merchants now left to convert! Come on ptc and tractor bhoy... you know you want to!
I still like the signings he makes, the way he WANTS to play football, the atmosphere around the town squad and what he says still makes a lot of sense. I also still think he has been let down by a number of his higher profile players (JET and Chopra - Im looking at you) and for example last night we should have been 3 or 4 up at half time but for whatever reason we just cant seem to turn that corner. It seems we can play sensible, possibly entertaining football for 89 minutes but never have a true cutting edge or tight defence. Im not sure what happens in those other 3 or 4 minutes but its crazy Its always difficult to make a clear judgement by listening to the radio and our Blackburn performance was decent enough so Im not in the 'out' camp yet BUT we cant keep making these stupid decisions time after time. Im looking forward to seeing our performance first hand on Saturday and will then have an honest opinion of where we are. On one of JWM's comments last night, he said that the result was the lowest point in our history and as normal with his initial postings I think he has exaggerated but there is no doubt that results like that are not good enough and can not be accepted season after season
How many more humiliations are you boys prepared to take before you accept that Jewell has got to go! I can't believe how gullable some people are!
I'll will accept 2 more Johnny.... Everyone has a different idea on how long is long enough Mr Tache it does not make them Gullable, some people are more patient/realistic/forgiving/whatever than others.
its got nothing to do with gullable, its known as a building process. It seems like you are suggesting that we change manager every 3 months if they dont hit the ground running and cant get an instant winning streak. Few clubs have managed it and most clubs who constantly change their managers suffer as a result.
Fair enough Weighty but I was never in favour of Jewell being appointed in the first place. When he first came in yes he said all the right things but actions speak louder than words and he has quite simply failed to deliver. I am not expecting us to win every game but what I am expecting is not to be tonked on a regular basis. The last home game of last season when Millwall came and tonked us was the final straw for me. In the 4 months of the close season he has failed to bring in the defensive reinforcements that we desperately need even after he has articulated that we keep giving away soft goals! I am not in favour of changing our manager every 5 minutes but the last 2 appointments have been abject failures. It certainly makes you hanker for the BFJ era when he achieved relative miracles with no money to spend. I am sick to death of the way many fans just seem to accept that we are in decline and take this crap week after week. I am realistic enough to realise that we can't punch above our weight like we use to but we are still a big club in this division and we should be showing more ambition than we do. There aren't too many clubs in this league that can boast a bigger ground, fanbase and footballing infrastructure. It is about time that we realised the total sum of our parts and flexed our muscles! Over the past few years we have been happy to retreat on this treadmill of mediocrity and if we are not too careful we will be going the same way as Coventry.
I would rather see the lot of 'em gone. Marcus has taken us backwards since arriving with his now invisble money, Clegg is a no football knowledge puppet and Jewell/Hutchings are not capable of coaching a team to do the simplest of things. If you don't give the manager cash, how do you expect him to do his job? If you don't have faith in the man spending it well then you should replace him. ME is bored at playing football owner now and the quicker he sells us the better.
Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing but the biggest mistake these clowns made was not appointing Ian Holloway when he came here for an interview!
Not sure, but I'm convinced there are a lot of managers out there who could do better, even without buying new players.
Karl Robinson or Paolo DiCanio as young and upcoming managers. Steve Coppel if we are going for experience. Yes there maybe compensation fees to pay but that is nothing compared to the drop off in gate revenues if this current situation is allowed to continue!
