I can't see pieterson coming back to the team for a while yet.. Not convinced he should be at 3 just because he is talented.. I have memories of him being **** at 3 a few years ago..

I'd probably go with bell at 3 see how he gets on first..

As for bopara he can do one as he is useless.. Morgan to come back?? Also surely there are some players in the t20 that could progress into the test side..

Not being funny mate but that's like saying a decent 5 a side footballer or seven a side rugby player could make it to the real game. It's not the same.

This is why Morgan hasn't cut it, a lot is in the head and also a **** technique WILL be exposed.

    I was half joking regarding Bopara, perhaps the ideal top six line up in order is;

    Cook
    Trott
    Bell
    Pietersen
    Bopara
    Bairstow/Taylor

truth is, without KP in there we are very light on options.

I'd agree with that line up.. Though without bairstowe.. Don't necessarliy agree with your comparison re the t20 players though..

There's a couple of players I'd like to see progress, dernbach and kieswetter there's an all rounder who's name I can't remember aswell.

Based on his one test I'd say Bairstow is more suited to it that Taylor.

In fact, he can replace Bopara as long as the top four remains as above. Morgan could yet come back into it as well.

Kieswetter is never a test player, not that he'd get a sniff of dislodging Prior anyway. Dernbach is a batting bowler I think so he could play as an all rounder if he develops.

Way too many South African being mentioned here though and not nearly enough Lancastrians.

What was the other lad called was it Luke something??

I'd like us to have another genuine all rounder.. Dernbach looks a handy bowler Has a great slower ball..

    Wright ?

Don't think he's good enough for the test team.

There is talk of some young lad coming in who hasn't actually played for England yet.

Yeah, Wright. Agreed, not good enough. Reminds me of Ricky Clarke.

Actually that is harsh as Ricky Clarke is so utterly **** it makes me cringe, I genuinely believe I was better than him. ****ing useless.

    Sweats from seven down we have;

    Prior - keeper/batter all rounder
Swann - batting bowler all rounder
Bresnan - batting bowler all rounder
Broad - batting bowler all round
    Anderson
    Finn

We don't do too badly in the all round department with Prior being a genuine one.

    The tails wags.

Am not necessarily saying they should be put straight in the test side but it would be nice to see some of them progress ..

Anyone buying in to this stuff about fergie falling out with Rooney and off loading him next year?

I think SAF has had it in mind to **** him off since he said he wanted to leave. I just think he wanted to do it on his own terms.

As long as we get bigs bucks and it is spent where needed maybe it's time for him to go.

Couldn't really care that much as he himself doesn't seem to. A fit a firing Rooney you would never sell though, we just don't currently have one.

I dunno what to make of it.. You know full well if he is sold the money won't get reinvested.. We will make do with welbeck and Hernandez..

That's not where it needs re investing though. I'd sell Rooney if it meant we bought a Schweinsteiger for instance.

Doubt it's true at this stage. SAF rarely just ups and sells players immediately, he prefers to give them time to prove themselves. I reckon Rooney has gotten a bit complacent and will have to win his place back once he comes back from injury - how he responds to that challenge will influence his future at Utd.

Fergie sees Rooney as a son.

There is no way hes ever going to sell willingly imo, hes put too much work and effort into Rooney to just let him go even if they have had a fall out.

Rooney is just being typical rooney, **** as **** after a busy summer. He will be fine in a few months.

Stranger things have happened re selling our star players.. The one that still bugs me the most was jap stam..

As to the money being reinvested I don't think either welbeck or Hernandez are ready to start week in week out.. I also think fergie is becoming a bit wengerish re buying a centre mid.. It's glaring the position we need someone and has been for years..

It would seem pointless to sell Rooney to buy another striker. We'd keep the one we have, a proven goals scorer at every level. Why take the chance otherwise.

I can't see us selling, I hope it doesn't have to, but if it were to happen it could only be to the good of the squad and that means buying what we need. Whether Fergie and the leprechauns see it like that I don't know.

Well, off to the national pool tonight to crank out some lengths (ooooh er). Need some impetus before I become a genuine, bone fide, fat ****. There's a fine line.

Stam was a strange one. Still unsure whether it was due to the autobiography, or him going downhill a bit as SAF said. Worth noting he was banned for steroids the season after he left, and his cash funded the Rio transfer a season later, so in the long run it was still a good bit of business imo.

This. Not sure if he's a bit wary, having been burned with Veron, Kleberson, D-D, and Hargreaves and doesn't want to risk buying another older big name CM who may flop. He has a pretty good point too. If you look at the best CMs in the league over the past two decades - Keane, Scholes, Fletcher, Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas, Vieira, Alonso, Essien - all of them were young when they joined the clubs they peaked at. I think Lampard was the only ones over 22, and he took a good three or four years to bed in before he started performing consistently.

I can't believe you put fletch up there with those names..

Veron and kleberson were ****e, we have also spunked cash on promising youngsters who have flopped.. Too many to remember.. Am sure he bought one with the da silvas.. Wr also had an Irish lad from Celtic.

I think fergie needs to make his mind up with phil jones.. Does he want him to be a defender or mid, he has the attributes to be a box to box mid.. Though I fear he will end up like o'shea and be a master of nothing..
