Hey There Sports Fans! Welcome to the CanariesSoccer Match Center for the ballgame between Norfolk State Canaries and S****hope Iron! This matchup is part of the Capital One™ League-Matchup-Trophy-Series, and will see Coach Hughton give run-outs to a number of his freshman ballers. Last time these two franchises met Canaries defeated Iron Six versus Nothing in the NPC™, so expect Iron to go all out in this inter-divisional grudge match (well, not really a grudge match, but you know what I'm getting at)! Coach Hughton: “If you need any reference as to what sort of opposition we will be up against you just have to look at their thrilling game against Derby County in the first round. They showed resilience and persistence to come back from behind and eventually win the tie on penalties and I'm sure they'll come here in the same spirit." please log in to view this image In the introductory round of the Capital One™ League-Matchup-Trophy-Series, Iron defeated Rams in a thrilling encounter which could only be settled by a PK showdown. The NPL-One franchise currently sit P24 in the divisional standings, rock bottom, following three back-to-back defeats, however it is still early days. Coach Knill: "At the moment we seem to have to do something exceptional to get the ball in the back of the net and yet for the opposition it is far too easy to put the ball in ours. We are, though, only three games into the season, and though the results so far are of concern, things will look a bit different if we can get a couple of wins under our belts." Expect Iron to go all out in an effort to build some momentum for their NPL-One series, whilst Canaries will look to not over-exert themselves ahead of their big matchup versus London HotSpurtz. Let's Go Team Canaries! This sure is going to be a great Soccer matchup, so fill up your Coca-Cola™ tankards, get your hot-dogs and grab a seat for this smash-and-grab matchup, brought to you exclusively on Not606! NOTE: I know this is a bit of a half-arsed job, but I don't want to use up all of my good material ahead of the Spurs game! OTBC
Always makes me smile when this website puts the **** in Scunthorpe in "no swearing mode". Good work as usual CS. I do admire the additional "t" that's now added to Spurz after some of their fans took offence last season?! They really were ****s
we really should be saying 'fill your boots' to the lads, facing the side bottom of league one with no points, but this is team canariez and we all know we don't 'do' the cups...
Bit OT but I don't think it warrants a new thread but listening to Canary Call for the first time this season, and the last. Some posh bloke came on complaining about signing a keeper. Had nothing to say about the game just, "I don't see the sense in having another keeper in".
I went to the reserves game tonight and found it a poor game TBH. We passed around reasonably well but Iron were up for it and played well, specifically the lad who scored. Rudd - looked a little shaky and his kicking was mixed.A couple of good stops though Francomb - played well and is a good back up at RB R.Benett - OK distribution variable M. Turner - see Bennett Tierney - got forward when he could and decent performance KoS - solid enough and SCORED!! I was there !!! Fox - passed well and regaining fitness Wes - MoM for me. Our most creative. Surman - nothing special all game Morison and Martin - hopeless for me Subs Pilkington and Jackson - OK, improved the quality a little. We must remember this was our total second stream with no first teamer's really involved so a decent win. The final third is still the big concern after this game. There were some total numpty's on Canary Call tonight and Forbes was talking rubbish. The caller regarding that Hughton was the wrong choice after 3 games!! Get over Lambert for crying out loud!! We must not get fixated on managers or players, who come and go. Finally me and my mate went in the Jarrold stand instead of the Barclay for a change, which was an interesting experience. Each to their own but not for me as it felt like I was sitting next to those who call in to Canary Call!
Agree totally with this assessment. You would think - or at least, I would, that given a rare starting opportunity, that Morison might roll his sleeves up and get stuck in. Ha!! He loped about for the duration of his (overlong) appearance, only showing any drive/determination/passion when remonstrating with the inept linesman on the Jarrold side, for being flagged offside twice. Cue holding of head etc. Apart from that, nothing. No running, no making himself available by running the channels. Pitiful. I really do not want last season's Morison-bashing to reoccur this year, but unless he improves drastically on last night, I'd see it as inevitable. C Martin was only marginally better
I think Morison done the exact same thing last season in severals games. Sometimes he just can't be arsed. That's why I don't like him. All this working hard business people say, I don't really agree. And have yet to see much of it, I don't think he works much harder than Chris Martin who gets no end of stick for exact same thing. Yesterday was a big chance for Morison, a position where we are lacking at the moment and he could have made a bit of a statement and got himself back in contention.
