It does seems a bit fruitless just rebuilding a whole city every few years and putting up with all these storms and ****. Wouldn't you want to just live somewhere else?

Maybe, but storm frequency and ferocity has increased over recent years (global warming?).

And - if you saw David Simons' 'Treme' series - the levees were not up to necessary standard when Katrina hit.

I thought that tbh, same with the San Andreas fault, seems bonkers living on it, but I guess people live where they have to. On a lesser scale I guess, but there's places in the UK that get flooded out every single year more or less, could ask why they don't move too.

As a New Orleans Saints american football team fan I truly hope the city is fine! I wanna go see the Saints one day at the Dome! If the city is left to die the team will leave and people will lose hope! The Saints and their home The Superdome where a lifeline to many made homeless by Katrina! If they were forced leave for San Antonio or Los Angeles permanently it would be a disaster to the city!

New Orleans has so much history other than Katrina, the French Quarter alone is a reason why the city has to be saved during hurricanes!

The levees should be fine this time. They'll get battered by wind and drenched with rain but they should come out in good shape.

That being said, New Orleans has been the armpit of North America since the French showed up. Thanks, England, for kicking those bastards out of Canada.
