I'd rather start Chamakh than sign Defoe.

Defoe is not really better than Podolski or Giroud.

And the van Persie comparison doesn't make sense, RvP wasn't the classic fox in the box, Defoe however has to be spoonfed to score goal. Not the type of player who can create something out of nothing.

Defoe is better than Bendtner and Chamakh but he's not a technical player. He would be a useful squad player, especially if Pod or Giroud get injured. I don't want to see us relying on Bendy/Chamakh ever again, but I would happily rely on Defoe for a few games.

Defoe could actually be a top striker. He's a natural finisher.

Spurs have never utilised him properly. He needs to be playing up the top infrpnt of a no. 9 supplying through balls into the box.

He's a spud though so ...no.

You don't know much about the player, if thats the case! as thats what he excels at, scoring something out of nothing, which is why he is great as a supersub or impact player.

Also, he isn't a yid, his hero growing up was Ian Wright so I'll assume he was a gooner at some point.

Anyhow, Defoe is a player that hasn't lived up to his potential and its too late for that now, but he is wasted at our club as even when he was in great form, we had berba/keane (one of the best partnerships in this league). When crouch was here, crouch linked up best with VDV....then Redknapp went with his 4-4-1-1 with Ade and NOW avb is playing 1 up top (and defoe is only used because we have no other choice).

So its fair to say if Defoe was at a club which played with a traditional 4-4-2 then he could have been a better player then he is rated currently.

I'd rather play Giroud or Podolski than Defoe. And tbh if Chamakh was getting first team football regularly i'd rather play him as well - he's actually a good play but thrives on confidence.

This is not the player we need to bring in and i hope if we bring in a striker it's one of better quality.

Defoe is proven and more talented as a goal scorer then Chamakh.

Also Giroud and Podolsk are unproven in this league. Defoe if he plays as 1st choice, will get at you around 15-18 league goals a season.

Chamakh is a complete train wreck as a striker.

Chamakh got us 10 goals and a few penalties (which he didn't take) in half a season when he was new to the league. If he plays as first choice he is a perfectly good striker. Not prolific but hard working and links play well. By no means a fantastic player but a grafter.

Giroud was top scorer in league 1 last year and very important in winning the league. He has looked good so far, his movement is good, he is good in the air - he will find goals i'm sure.

Podolski has one of the best International Scoring records around at one of the best International sides. He also scored 18 goals for a relegation team in a strong German League last year.

Unproven in THIS league or not they are top players and i'd start either ahead fo Defoe.

I've never really rated Defoe tbh - he has an eye for goal but as a complete player he lacks too many qualities, especially to play upfront alone imo.

No doubting Poldolski's record abroad but until he proves himself here then its irrelevant.

As for Giroud, again he done superb abroad last season, but records from another league only come into the argument when that player proves he can take his ability from one league, to another league and from country to country.

No, Defoe can't play as a lone striker if you want someone to hold the ball up, but he still gets goals, even as a lone striker as he has proved with us and even for England.

He certainty isn't as bad as some make out and has never claimed to be a complete player.

Infinitely better goalscorer than the top scorer in France and one of the top scorers (on avg) in Germany? Because they failed to score in a whopping 2 games?

    Are you serious??

How the **** did you become a mod anyway, sexual favors to drogs? <laugh>

Who gives a **** what he's done in France? If He was that good a lot of bigger clubs would have been after him.

Defoe is surely a better option than Chamakh or Park and has plenty of PL experience.
