Looks as though we are 9th in the League in terms of spending, just £1 million less than Man City! http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/8023964/Totaliser-table
Fulham has spent nothing Ours is expected to increase by another £7m or so if we bag pablo and emnes
FFS!!! £500k? Do we really want to lose a very good player that the manager wants and who wants to play for us? I will be one angry supporter if we miss out because of a comparatively trifling sum. Mind you, I'm inwardly chuckling at the same time because I never dreamt, just a few years back, that I would be so dismissive of us spending an extra half a million quid on a player.
Agree there Ivor. A few years ago, £500K was a huge amount for this club, and now Jinks is more than happy to spend so long as we remain in the Black. Shows just how far this club has come. Just hope we do spend the extra 500K if that's the amount.
I don't give any credibility to any of the figures bandied around for these players. Look at the Sinclair scenario. How many different figures have been agreed between Swansea and Man City? £4m;£5m;£5.5m;£6m;£6.2m;£6.5m??? Yet today,Dr. Huw Jenkins announces on national radio that NO AGREEMENT has been made for the transfer of Scott Sinclair to Man.City. My case rests. So,if Hernandez signs,he signs. If he doesn't,well, there'll always be another false trail to follow. I won't lose any sleep over it.
Pundits and reporters get paid to say/write things so that is what they do. And they do it because fans want it. When there's speculation, fans complain. When it's all quiet, fans complain that nothings happening. Fans are never happy.
It all depends what we are to pay as a maximum and if we have offered that amount and they want half a million more then we should move on as the minute we start breaking our financial structure then that could be the start of saying ...well its only half a million more for any other player. clubs will start to bleed us dry. Stick to our principals i say and if we get him then thats great but if we dont then we move on......dont fall into the trap of other clubs who pay whatever the cost. keep your limit....
I agree with you in principle, Dai, but to lose a player that we obviously value for the sake of £500k seems odd to me. If they were asking another million or two, fair enough but are the lines so finely drawn that we are quibbling about another 10%? He's worth £5 million but not £5.5 million? I doubt player valuations are quite such an exact science.
Probably just an unsubstantiated rumour but I heard today that Valencia are looking for around €10m If that is correct then Hernandez is a no go!
I agree, it would be a shame to loose out on Hernandez for 500k. He would be a quality addition to the team.
Reading between the lines, it looks like Jenkins is holding out for more money on the Sinclair deal, to fund the Hernandez deal, regardless of what he has said, that 'one is not dependent on the other', think he might lose both, if he's not careful!...........
