Don't know if this has been done already, apologies if it has.

Looks set to miss Blackpool... good opportunity for Krul again to put up a serious challenge.

Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper may need surgery to resolve the knee problem that kept him out of the midweek draw against Manchester United.

Harper, 36, will not play against Blackpool on Saturday and Toon boss Alan Pardew says he could need an operation for the injury.

Pardew said: "Harper isn't right and we will have to review him over the next couple of weeks.

"It could be that he needs a small operation."

Pardew stressed that the injury does not necessarily signal the end of Harper's season.

"It's not a major problem, but we will have a look at that and weigh that up over the next couple of weeks," the former West Ham manager said.

Dutch keeper Tim Krul will replace Harper in goal at Bloomfield Road, with third-choice stopper Ole Soderberg providing cover on the bench.

Will Tim Krl keep the first clean sheet against Blackpool this season?

I think not, but if he does <applause>

Nothing he could've really done about the two this season, one was a penalty, the other a decent finish if I remember correctly?

Gonna be honest. A little part of me is always pleased when Harps gets injured because it means we get to see Krul in goal. Always feel gutted for Harps though, he's shown the club incredible loyalty and he's a top drawer keeper, sacrificed an international career for us.

IMO overall Harper is still the better keeper between him and Krul, but Krul looked great against Man Utd and has the potential to be better, I also noticed that Kruls kicking was great against Man Utd, looks like hes been practising, I for one am looking forward to seeing him in action again.

Got every faith in Krul, he's a top class young keeper and could be keeping goal for us for many years to come.

Harps has been a very loyal servant and deserves the utmost respect, but when it's time to move on it's time to move on.

If Krul hadn't made that crucial save early on in the game on Tuesady it could have been a very different result.

To be honest, they're both decent keepers and it's the one position I'm not too bothered if a first teamer get's injured.
Slightly more nervous about backpasses with Krul, but as GBB says his kicking did look to have improved vs Man U.

Let's face it, Harps isn't particularly well known for his kicking. It's been enough to give us grey hairs over the years.

Krul vs Palermo is one of the best goalkeeping performances i've ever seen. Worryingly the best was Given when Liverpool beat us 5-1.

I'm growing rather fond of Krul. He's a pretty damn good goalie at such a young age. Imagine how he'll be as he gets older. Future senior Holland international?

Only position I don't get worried about when we get an injury!

Good to see him back in goal, I would have him ahead of harper personally. It's a shame for Harper being injured again though.

    So we have

Krul = Tryed and proven to be good
Forster = League 1 winner and could soon have a SPL medal
Soderberg = Beardsley thinks highly of him cant argue with Pedro
Jak = Shame hes related to that mackem keeper

So we look tight on GKs.
