Hooperman, I have supported the R's for 40 years (first game when i was 6), season ticket holder for 25 years, my 3 sons have had season tickets for the last 4 seasons, spent my hard earnt on shirts etc for them each season and wished hard for better days at the bush. Never did i imagine myself a pessimistic c**t, thanks!
glad to see the new training facility setup is costing nothing as well... Someone ate the silly pill at about 7:05 today...
You serious? It's not just outlay on players the board are laying but also solid foundations from the club, ie training facilities, youth setup etc. how anyone can make the comparison with tango and cash is beyond me..
For all of the close season we couldn't wait for the season to start for all the crap threads and nonsense posted on here. The season starts and the threads just seemed to get worse. And then comes along Loopys thread... I've never laughed so much in ages! Some brilliant responses on here... Loopy.. Take a bow my old son, your a genius. I'm over in ML btw, pop over and say hello. It will be a pleasure to shake your hand.
Certainly wouldn't call them tango and cash but I wouldn't go round telling rival fans we have rich owners either. Not until we start making those £5m+ signings regularly, which we're clearly not prepared to do right now. Before you start on our gate receipts, look at Sunderland. Their crowds are double ours yet if they sign Dawson it'll be £30m spent this summer, to go with the £20m+ last summer. How do they do it? Rich owner prepared to pump in the funds? Having the sixth richest man in the world has meant little so far because TF wants to run a very tight ship. We'll have to accept that.
tango and cash were bleeding money out of the club if you have seen the four year plan its as obvious as night and day.during that video they wanted to cut costs on energy drinks for the players after spending money onh that ****e boutique clubshop and flash light fittings to greet the sycophantic hangers on in the w12 club. season tickets went through the roof to and i quote "cover the transfer costs",absolute bullshoot who did we spend big money on under those two?????.Tony Fernandes has used his money from other businesses to fund transfers and don't forget the Mittels are still on board and contributing towards it all. New stadium in the pipeline will draw more fans through the gate and contribute towards balancing the books but not all of it,sky money also is in the pot which is £40mill plus every season added to that £1.5 mill for every live game it all adds up. i can understand some peoples pessimism because of where we have been before but having met fatty and titch and also Tony they are worlds apart.
Where have you been for the last 18 odd months Ade? There has never been a better time to support the Rs in the last 16 years. In TF we have the best man at the helm of any 'real' club in the football league. Enjoy it, I know I will.
i was deliberately staying away from forums QPR999 because to be honest most were becoming tedious and stale.I found this one through a mate and took a while to read a few threads and now really enjoy this one. the opinions on here are varied but also have substance and thought behind them, which on most forums is a rare commodity.
Well you spent £600k on Delaney's initial transfer fee alone (plus whatever clauses were triggered after that), so god knows what you spent on the better players, and we all know about the wages they gave the dross you were signing.
lol Why not, he was great value (at least the fee) given how good a centre back he was, don't tell me you made the mistake of playing him at left back all the time.
And thats why your thread really got on my tits, as you have been through the very worst times of qpr. With the current structure of the teams management and where they're taking us, we rangers fans should be feeling like we've just woken up sandwiched in between a gorgeous blonde an an exotic brunette. But your demeanour is one of someone who's been forced to spend the night muff diving with hilda ogden and pat butcher. I never like to slag off a fellow 'R' particulary ones who have invested much of their time and hard earned on qpr. You got every right to say how you feel and I apologies for calling you a **** (no hard feelings), but I feel that we, in our time of prosper should be less pessimistic.
It always saddens me to see a fellow supporter getting abuse just because he put forward a controversial topic. Are we all so shallow that we can't allow difficult opinions without accusing people of being disloyal? Personally I think TF is the best thing to happen to QPR since Jim Gregory but there are some basic facts here that should not be ignored: 1. TF is a businessman. He would not be in business for long if he ignored commercial reality 2. Although the Mittals could certainly afford to we are not going down the Abramovitch route. Why not? 3. The strategy of focusing investment on wages rather than transfer fees is questionable as it gives us a lot of long term contracts with older players. 4. It also means the club is putting off actually making a good percentage of the investment. If the investors decide to pull out if it goes pear shaped we would be in a Portsmouth situation x 10. My opinion is that TF and co will stick things out but as things stand today Loopy's question is not so unreasonable.
Very good post. I agree. The OP made the mistake in comparing to Tango, but the question is reasonable. The abuse is unnecessary.
