Great news. Other news is that Jay Spearing to Bolton is close enough to a formality, Liverpool and Bolton are £500k in difference in valuation.
Be nice if we got a few million for Cole, but a free transfer will suffice if not. It's a shame for Spearing. I like him, and he'd be a good player in a team that need someone to win the ball and lay it off to someone else to do the work. Unfortunately he's just not quite got that quality to take responsibility in the same way Allen & Lucas have. Wish him all the best though and no doubt see him in the Premiership in a few years, be it with Bolton or not.
We have to give little Jay 10/10 for effort and he does try his hardest. However he's not got the necessary quality to be in a squad that eventually aims to be champions.
He's been next to useless since 2008 these days he's like Michael Owen he prays on clubs stupid enough to pay his wages .
Any news on Adam???? Reckon his football skills are on a par with this guys boxing skills
Good news on cole if true, but i'll be really disapointed if spearing leaves. He's on small wages and is happy to sit on the bench for most of the season, always giving his all when he does get the chance. I just think the squad needs workers who are happy to put the team or squad ahead of there own ego and spearing is the perfect fit.
It would be brilliant news if Cole left, West Ham can have him on a free hopefully this story is true. The guy is on massive wages for doing nothing. As for Spearing in a way would not mind if he left but not bothered if he stayed like mentioned he gives his all when he gets time on the pitch
I think thats the last thing we need to be honest, we've had a squad like that for years now and it hasn't done anything for us. The most you can achieve with a squad like that is 8th and that is not what we want again. Though maybe Spearing is the only one that I would be ok with staying. Preferably he goes, but if he stays, oh well he's likable and won't hurt us on the bench.
but the point im trying to make is its all well and good having a squad full of suarez's but its unsustainable, brilliant players dont like to sit on the bench some even if there on ridiculous wages. TBH i think its only a matter of time before henderson starts to grumble about being left out as he seems to have fallen behind shelvey (which i agree with) good players dont want to sit on the bench so when we have an average midfielder who loves the club and will always bleed for the shirt but will happily sit on the bench for most of the year why not keep hold of him. hes probably on tiny wages , why sell him for a minmal fee thats not really going to buy us anything better?
I think Henderson could have a future with us... but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go to make room for a better transfer.
I think we could be too light if he leaves, especially if Adam and Spearing leave. I think a CM with choices of Shelvey, Sahin, Gerrard, Lucas, Allen and Henderson is great depth and not too many.
Fair enough. I just won't be too sad if he leaves. It may be unsustainable to sign 15 first team players but we need to be improving our second string squad as well. Spearing unfortunately isn't good - even if he is brought in for an emergency he just can't do a great job. He's above average in determination, under average in the skills department. We can do better, even for the bench. You are right though, it's not often that a player wouldn't grumble about being on the bench. It could be useful, but the funds could also be useful.
I sort of agree with that about Spearing. If he goes he goes, if he doesn't, its not a big deal. He's a lot like Nicky Butt at Manchester United, **** all use, but as a local lad, he's loyal.
