Freddie Shepherd being interviewed by Richard Keys & Andy Gray? A Fukwit sandwich if ever I heard of one. How come terrorists never hit targets we all want killed?

I think it just shows what a major ****-up sacking Sir Bobby was. If he had been allowed to stay as manager, who knows where he would have taken us.

This is bullshit...I distinctly remember Sir Bobby being interviewed outside the training ground by Sky Sports, we were in dire need of a CB and then we stuck £20/£25m in for Rooney - when they asked him about this deal he said, "I can't really comment, the chairman has arranged this one" ... I remember saying at the time that this was one of the reasons he was fired, 'cause he spoke out against Shepherd!

[EDIT: obvously the tone doesn't come across in that quote, but basically he seemed bemused by the whole thing!]

I desperatley wanted us to sign him when the rumours were going round. But in hindsight, im glad we didnt. The last thing we'd have needed that season, was Wayne Rooney. Especially with that prick Souness incharge. And god, imagine, a team with Rooney, Dyer, Bowyer and Bellamy.

I think it's bullshit, Rooney admitted he was ready to come to Newcastle until Man U piped up then his mind was made up in an instant. Shepherd can **** off if he thinks I'll believe his crap.

That is what he said. He said we would have got him if Man U did not come in. They did though and ultimately we lost out. I will be controversial here, but I do believe what he has said on the show.

Interesting question. Rooney is without doubt an obnoxious cretin who I would hate to see in a Newcastle shirt but I may be overly influenced by the fact he now plays for an utterly obnoxious team.

On the other hand, we might have reformed Guttermouth. We'll never know.

The reason Rooney didn't come wasn't because of SBR, it was because Man U were always hovering, we just happened to declare interest first with an apparent attempt to blow Man U out of the water with a £30million bid. Clearly didn't work though!

What a pack of lies. I heard the following was true.
    1. Freddie Shephard was the one responsible for Bobby getting sacked.
    2. Bobby never wanted Rooney, as we needed a centre back with Woodgate having just been sold to Real Madrid.
    3. Newcastle never had any interest in signing Rooney, it was a bid with the aim of enticing more money out of Man Utd, as Freddie Shephard's son was linked to the agency representing Wayne Rooney, and if Rooney got transferred then and not in January they would get extra money.

As for a new manager not fancying Rooney that is bull 2.

Oh and the source for this was Bobby Robson's nephew (who worked with my dad at the time) who also reckoned Bobby was absolutely distraught at getting sacked and blamed Freddie Shephard and Robson wasn't allowed to go and watch Newcastle games for a while after he got sacked.

Did anyone actually LISTEN to the interview?!

After we lost Keegan we apparently tried to get Sir Alex Ferguson as our ****ing manager! The crazy thing is, I believe it. The thing I don't believe is that, as Shepard says, SAF 'always said he'd only ever join Newcastle' (other than Man U obviously). Bollocks! Surely?

Oh, and now we've got Keys saying how we're all ****ing mental. 'I think Geordies would rather lose 5-4 than win 1-0.' Blah, blah, blah. **** off, you filth-fisted jizzwasher. Of course we'd rather win 1-0 and not only that but football can actually be great without goals. Tuesday was far more ****ing entertaining than when we lost 2-1 to Blackburn, maybe if you hadn't ****ed your old job up, you might have seen that. Bell end
