I always thought we had a good relationship with Madrid after they sold us VDV for 8 million, weeks after rejecting an 18 million bid from Bayern Munich for the player, however I don't get why we have to announce a public partnership, its like Levy is trying to boost his ego again or his stock with the fans. Name me clubs in world football that have a partnership with a bigger club and show me how the smaller club benefits? as usually these partnerships are designed for the bigger club and while we're not a small club, compared to real madrid anyone is smaller! Anyhow, unless we see real benefits from this, imo its just a way for Levy to boost his stock as a chairman and make out to fans that we're now "friends" with Madrid when they have probably only agreed to this partnership in hope of landing our next Modric or Bale.
When did you bid £40mill plus Alex? It was £32mill plus Alex or Kalou, wasn't it? It was never about Lukas's transfer value with Chelsea, consider our refusal to deal with your lot as a consequence of tapping him up, leaking transfer bids and the fact that we didn't want to improve a league rival. SSN are now reporting it as atleast £33mill and we were told that we were selling him for £23mill the other week, so I seriously doubt anyone has much of a clue as to the actual fee.
The partnership thing is a load of commercial nonsense, it's for sponsors, maybe joint coaching ventures etc. I imagine that was to do with not wanting to help Munich out in the CL.
I wasn't aware of any tapping up and we didn't actually leak any bids. I suppose different clubs have different ways of dealing. The Arsenal model of selling to the highest bidder or in this case selling to the lesser threat. Does the £33m include the bonuses or added costs?
To be honest, I'm just glad he's gone and we can move on, although signing M'Vila could be risky. Wasn't Modric originally signed as a deeper player we developed into a playmaker role? So we could either end up with a new Modric OR even more DM which we really don't need right now.
He's passed the medical, so it should be completed very soon. Chelsea tapping Modric up? They've never done anything like that before...
Of course you did. You enquired about Modric, we rejected it and much like Arnesen(where you were caught red handed) Modric suddenly turned around and said he wanted to leave for Chelsea. The Daily Mail had details of every bid that was made even before they were made in some cases yet they haven't been so accurate about Chelsea's dealings since. It's obvious the leaks were planned to add pressure on us to sell. SSN were saying "at least £33mill", how that's come about. My point was that you, I and everyone else haven't got a Scooby what the fee was. I'd imagine Spurs aren't keen to let clubs know how much we've got when we're trying to sign players and if it's true that Madrid caved from their £27mill cap, I doubt they're keen to shout it from the rooftops either.
Well this sorts out my life long problem....Real is my Spanish team...fk Barca. Glad he has gone and truth is now that Modric has left I dont seem to have the same kind of anger towards him as I did when he was screwing our plans up...good luck Modric...we are not Arsenal we won't create articles hoping you break a leg. Now come Levy back AVB.
This partnership thing worries me - I don't exactly like the thought of RM coming over and taking the cream of our squad and then tossing us a few youngsters with potential to train them up.
Spurs tapped up Bostock and Keane as well as a few others. I'm not saying its right but the reality is tapping up goes on all the time. Kakuta wasn't tapped up btw. I don't disbelieve you YV as I don't know the facts but as I mentioned we wouldn't be the firs or last
If real want one of our players there is no stopping them so this arrangement makes no difference in that sense
i bet you would if he'd went to us or your rivals for this season, or say your Europa league rivals. Sent from a mobile device.
DL this is not about Chelsea....stop trying to fly your team flag in every article!!! Another article you have hijacked...this is about Spurs and Madrid...and a player your club did not for once wave money at and get....fuksake you remind me of my kid who always hijacks a visit to town by demanding a toy!!!!
Yup like Sheringham left us for United when he was at his peak and we even bought him back....anyway my point remains we won't stoop to them levels so stop presuming Gent...anyway back on topic.
