Could these two emulate the best two wingers I ever saw play together for Sunderland.

Interesting that Allan Johnson was a right footer that played on the left and potentially Adam Johnson is a left footer that plays on the left.

Only thing is we don't have Quinn and Philips on the other end but who knows

Well Johnston didn't play in the top flight for us so you would have to say Johnson/Mclean (potentionally).

Don't think I will ever see a crosser of the ball again like Summerbee, he was as good as they come for accuracy and consistency. Magic just had the lot, pace, silky skills and loved nowt better then cutting inside and bending them in the top corner.

It would be a monumental effort for McClean and Johnson to out-do them two.

If they even get close it will be amazing. Could Fletch and Sess be our Quinn and Phillips.

Allan Johnson and Nicky Summerbee remain the greatest wing duo I have ever seen at the club and Quinn and SKP the best striking partnership. That they came at the same time was no fluke.

For Adam Johnson and James McClean to come close they will have to be at their peak and then maybe we will see the best from Fletcher as well. Sessegnon will NEVER be the next SKP if he plays until he is 50. Sessegnon a good player but imo, not even close to lacing SKP's boots.

For me, Martin still has to find his own SKP yet and maybe that's the next stage?

Finding the next SKP is a lot harder than it sounds as they only come along once in a blue moon.

He's playing for Huddersfield in the championship, honestly mate I have such a feeling that he is a 25-30 goals a season in the premier league

I've been singing Jordan Rhodes praises for over a year mate.

Imo, he is a goalscorer. Simple as that and has opened his championship account already in his first game.

Well worth £6m up front of anyone's money but especially Shorts. Lol

Agreed Johnston and Summerbee were class, but as an old'un I can compare them to George Mulhall and Brian Usher, Mulhall had the hardest shot of any player Ive seen since and knew how to cross a ball and Usher had pace too burn, nearly as quick as Usain Bolt (well not quite), and they played up front with Sunderland's smallest centre forward ever in Nick Sharkey and he got his share of goals too.
If McLean and Johnson get anywhere close to these four then we are in for some entertaining games this season.

What was class about Summerbee was his ability to deliver the ball at any stage of his movement, if you know what I mean.

He could be half way through a stride and just whip the ball in, and 90% of the time it'd be a great delivery.

Loved him, I preferred him to Magic.

A think Beckham learnt a lot from watching Summerbee regarding crossing the ball.

Johnston and Summerbee were exellent wingers and also Leighton james, i think Mcclean is more of an attacking midfielder and Johnson will get passed midfielders and get crosses in, but Sess needs to work with him or do we play Johnson instead of Sess ? because Sess is not built like a striker to me, but i want to see him in the box with Steve.

Interesting that you think McClean is an attacking midfielder maybe that is where he will be played in the middle, thought they would move Seb central but, the McClean one seems a good call mate.

Patience my friend. Miracles do happen, but not before they have played together.
