QPR boss explains Taarabt absence By Jacob MurtaghAug 26 2012 Add a commentRecommend (2) inShare.0 Share on emailShare on print Adel TaarabtMARK Hughes revealed he decided to drop Adel Taarabt from the starting XI for Saturday's draw at Norwich for tactical reasons. The Moroccan was left warming the bench as the QPR boss opted to play two up front, with Bobby Zamora partnering Djibril Cisse through the middle. Hughes explained: âI've got options but I just felt it was important to have a focal point and that's what Bobby gives us. âI left Adel out because although he gives us a lot in terms of attacking, it's important when we're away from home that we're compact as well. âIt was a little bit hard on Adel, in fairness, but we've got threats and it's important I pick a team that can capitalise on them.â Read More http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/08/26/82029-31701144/#ixzz24j6QlNqM
What he meant was he didnt want Taarabt losing the ball in our half and putting more pressure on an already very shaky defence.
Watching the match the one major weakness was a lack of creativity in midfield and with Diakite again anonymous I would Taarabt would have come on second half for us to try and win the match. It was a difficult match to watch because we just seem to be going backwards. Just heard on Talk Sport that Harry Redknapp is being backed to manage a London Premiership club so it has got to be West Ham or us!
I disagree our major weakness was the fact we had nothing solid in front of defence to allow the team to build from and support the attackers, if we had not had to use 2 defenders as subs I think Adel would have made an appearance but we could not bring him on and risk making mistakes into a an already fragile team.
Mackie puts in a shift which is doubly important away from home. Fabio and Taarabt down that side would have been asking for trouble.
Apart from playing Green, for me MH big mistake Saturday was playing 4-4-2. We are always Cr*p when he plays that, as when he first took over from the Legend, and we lost to our relegation rivals. We did not have, and don't have now the box to box CM players to give the necessary support to our weak back 4. He needs to get back to the 4 2 3 1 or 4 5 1 that we used successfully at home at the end of last season, to give the back 4 the protection they need. They need Derry sitting right in front of them, and probably the 2 best other DCMs available now (Diakite and Park), until better are brought in or Ale is fit again, both sitting not too far off our back 4.
That's really not fair on Adel, since we had Ji-Sung in there in that role and he was good. Having Adel in front of Park would be something we need to utilize. MH again made a tactical error.
Adel is a maverick and very temperamental and still young so that combination makes him sometimes hard to deal with.i have him on facebook and twitter and for privacy i shant post what he said on saturday evening but lets just say he wasn't happy. His major problem is that he want's desperately to play every game and throws a hedgehog when he doesn't,if you wan't my personal opinion he is a player for home games as away he disappears for large chunks.he needs to learn it's a squad game and not all about him.
Are you sure it's really Adel on twitter? I thought Ian Taylor said he's not on it and any accounts are fake?
Think that may be a fake account mate. I take the point about Adel, but I think it's yet another conundrum for Hughes. Taarabt can give the ball away but equally he's the best player we have for retaining possession, which is what we seem very poor at so far!
That Col is a very good point. Totally agree. Unless he is really out of sorts he should be in our starting 11's, in central attacking midfield.
