Speaking to a lot of lads in Chester last night and its amazing what that AJ signing has done for us all. If ever there was a watershed signing this surely must be it. Cuellar, Saha and imo Fletcher were good solid acquisitions but the announcement that Johnson had put pen to paper has risen the bar. Wild speculation was bouncing last night as to who may still come in and it's difficult not to get swept away with it all. However, the general feeling was we have at last woken up as a club and good things are happening. Names such as Dempsey, Strinic, Olsson, Berbatov, Dawson, Defoe and others came to prominence during conversations very easily as possible targets and with Bardsley and Brown just a few weeks away from returning, we will have a very strong squad this season and very quickly shaped into Mon's own. Those are names that we would have laughed at ourselves a week ago but now, today, not at all. Have websites, SSN and other social media sites ever been so closely monitored? Lol Oh and another thing. The Chester mags were very, very, very quiet last night as well. Silent in fact. Lol
As a Chester ex-pat I felt it from over here! Certainly a time to be an SAFC fan; it has been some time since we have been spoilt for choice such as this. This coming Saturday will be a good test for the new team.
I felt we were so close when we had bent, gyan and wellbeck - and then it was stripped away from us so abruptly. Can never be sure, but I think we're on much more solid footing with MON, AJ and Fletch.
Best part of the signings so far is that they are all known factors and are hopefully joining us to prove to themselves, international managers that they can do it - giving the opportunity. My mystery signing will be the striker to play alongside Fletcher.
One big thing no one has mentioned is that in seasons gonebo we have had a boat load of on loan players but we seem to be changing direction in that regard to. You cant rely too much on loan players at the business end of the season as invariably their minds are with their parent club and they trxm and avoid injury etc. Its looking good in more ways than one...
This fan is very, very, very happy over in Nigeria, i've never known a transfer window be as exciting as this and it still isn't over yet. My imagination is running riot thinking of all the possible team line up's we have to look forward to if we get a couple more of our supposed targets. Get in there Ellis & MON.
Amazing what a difference a week makes. Only last week after the Arsenal game MON was saying we had to trust him over signings cos we the fans were getting restless. How did we ever doubt him?
You missed out IMO, The most important man, the business man Ellis, He has got his head round this now, and has never been proven to be a loser. So happy days all round.
