Because he would form a formidable partnership with Arteta. A DM isn't a necessity if you have players in midfield capable of defending and chasing back, it's the system that the 442 was built on.
Is Cabaye any good defensively? Without Tiote today, NUFC looked suspect in the middle of the park. Part of that may be down to the fact that Anita is very average.
Yes, he is perfect for the box to box role and giving support to Arteta. I think his average performance today was the fault of Anita's, it's a new partnership for him to get used to and Anita is rather erratic with his positioning. Not to mention the midfield depth that they were both up against today, there wasn't much he could do, despite that though, he still came away with 6 tackles (the most on the field for both teams), and 2 interceptions.
Sounds good. This may sound like madness, but why not try a package deal? 30 million + Diaby and Ramsey for Tiote and Cabaye.
I think the best way to get a potential deal with Newcastle would be to offer a player, all though the deal that you have constructed above would never come true, I think a £15 million offer and Aaron Ramsey would be a very good bit of business for both teams. The deal that you have made probably has a cash value of around £45 million, realistically.
Arsenal target, Ãtienne Capoue: "I don't know if I'll stay in Toulouse this season. We'll see by the end of the transfer period."
if we're going to buy a midfielder, it would be someone who would play instead of diaby at the moment, and then rotate in and out when jack gets back. as such, they need to be the "muscle" in midfield, as both arteta and cazorla are lightweight. but, i would also like them to be much better technically than diaby, something i'm sure wenger wants as well. names touted today were cabaye or tiote. cabaye isn't able to be the muscle, he is more like arteta in play. i'm not sure if tiote is technically good enough, but correct me if i'm wrong. will be a hard search to find a player like this. we're pretty much looking for a "vieira".
Where did he say that ? In his post match interview he said that we were lacking in the final 3rd. Mirallas said that talks with Arsenal had reached an advanced stage before Everton came in for him . . . We could still be in for another CF
Ridiculous indeed. Would cost £30 Mil plus but for me would be worth it. This guy is more efficient in front of goal then Van Persie.
He's worth more than 30 million, the guy is totally world class, no doubting it. As you said, he's more deadly in front of goal than Van Persie. I think i saw his value is about 42 million. But Atletico Madrid have money troubles too.

Whatever happens, this coming week is going to be fun and dramatic I suspect. I do love the last week of the summer transfer window, especially after last year.
