No he's not signing for us. It pains me to say it but I find myself liking the bloke these days. I used to think he was a proper tit but every time I see him on Sky I find myself warming to him. Talks a lot of sense, which for a football pundit should be a prerequisite but sadly isn't. He looks a bit like Peter Barlow as well, which is a bonus.
For me, he's one of those people that you'd like if he didn't have an irritating voice. Decent guy, knows what he's talking about, but when he's commentating on a match I'm just shaking my head and telling him to shut the **** up. Same applies to people with no accent - they can be likeable enough people but the often unintentional condescending tone that comes hand in hand with the lack of accent make them extremely annoying.
I feel the same, when Sky got him on board I thought he would be a boring bar steward, but he does talk a lot of sense.
I was just thinking much the same things. Shame Sky pair him with Rednapp who has **** for brains (jr not the older one)
I think he's a decent pundit. Good game that was, enjoyed that at my mum and dad's whilst being treated to Sunday roast. And now, I'm off to the puuuuuub. Bank holiday innit. Haworth massive.
i agree, when he 1st started using andy grays pen it made me feel sick to my stomach, like watching somebody get off with an ex bird i had still had feelings for.. but ive warmed to him now, hes fair and honest to teams like man city and liverpool, which i didnt expect him to be with his man united bias..
He is one of the few pundits I like on TV. He, Graeme Souness and Ray Wilkins are the top 3. He's no Andy Gray but that ship has sailed (although he has returned to TV for Al Jazeera recently and does Champions League commentaries for talkSPORT - so it might not be long before he's back)
Good pundit and comes across as really knowing what he's on about resulting in decent insightful comments. He brings together a good blend of personal experience and perceptive commentary. Still a total **** though.
