Can we stop calling RVP a desperate signing as it clearly wasnt, hes a genius move as its shown already. Rooney out of form and now injured...... last season that would of left us pretty weak up top even with our 2 young future stars. RVP means that we no longer rely on Rooney. As for City and Mancini, they are clearly a good side but not as good as some like to think. I have mentioned a few things that are not quite right at City and its all turned out to be the case. It wont destroy them but it will handicap them somewhat compared to the City of today. They are struggling to sell players and for the first time the owners are wanting things done properly which of course hasnt gone down well because I get the feeling Mancini expected to be able to spend spend spend without question. It will sort it self out, did with Chelsea eventually though they will never have the stability Jose gave them.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching us play today, thought we played really well. Only the 2nd game in and although it was at home we played great. Let's hope we can continue this fine form next week against Arsenal
Thought ref had a mare givin 50/50 to Citeh Big clanger from Skrtel but hes been great for us last couple of years so you cant give him too much grief Think Borinis doin better than people are sayin, his touch has been a bit off,but his movemnet is excellent, and seems to really good at creating space for others.I think hes a good player, who is still only 21
Most teams would be delighted with Hernandez and Berbs in their team, they are more than capable players to stand in for Rooney. RVP was in no way a requirement in the transfer market for you lot. It was a flash Marquee signing, to signal intent and bolster the morale of the current squad. Retiring Giggs and Scholes and bringing in world class replacements and a top class centre half to replace Ferdinand over the next 2 years would have been the logical thing to do. As it is, you have more fire-power than the NRA, and no defence. It's a game plan or sorts, but it's not one that will make you the best team in the city. let alone the country.
So..... and bare with me on this D'ko....... signing one of the leagues best players is classed as desperation? So what is a none desperate signing, I would love to know.
We have a very young side with a few old heads. Thing is we have all seen you say the same yourself baz so seriously, cut the act and act 31 rather than 13.....months. Liverpool put out a young side today I believe, someone mentioned the average age was 24/25 and the youngest since 2003, we often put out younger sides.
Yes most teams would but most teams dont challenge for titles year after year so we need a little more than most teams. We have 4 quality strikers, the 2 best in the league ( my opinion ok ) and 2 of the most exciting younger strikers. The mix of ages is perfect, 29, 26, 24, 21. Experienced heads to give the younger ones guidence. Fergie is looking for the scholes replacement but I think he has already found him, they call him Shinji and he is one hell of a player. Giggs..... well there is Nani who isnt half bad. Rio......Smalling is clearly his replacement. What he needs to do is find someone to compliment carrick or give us a chance to rest carrick because. Thats what he keeps forgetting to do.
Really good performance today pity we didn't get all 3 points but we have shown some of our critics that we may well be on the right track. Just wanted to say how good Allen was today, I was always sure that he would be a good signing and I'm sure some who had reservations are starting to change their mind.
Funny... would never have thought I would have ended that game feeling disappointed with a draw... but I think we looked up for a win. It wasn't a red coloured white-wash... still a close affair- but we were perhaps the better team. I'll start my review with Sterling... that was a sterling performance... this lad is only 17?!?!?! Imagine him in a few years. He does seem to need to work on stamina a little- he seems to fade out over time... a bit like Babel would as 90 minutes approached- but at 17 he's already establishing himself as the best winger we've had in a long time (not that that says much unfortunately). Don't want to get too ahead of myself. Plessis and Insua had great starts with the team and where are they now? Actually... where ARE they now? But I have great optimism for Sterling and think he deserves the starting berth. Gerrard looked much better today. Skrtel- brilliant... yes, I forgive that horrible pass... beyond that he was good. Borini not convinced he's the best fit yet. We'll see... he's young... getting more time on field than anyone else so far since the competative season started... not 100% sure he deserves it yet. Allen- fit in immediately and assuredly. Worth the fee we paid easily. Reina- looked more confident today. Suarez- still doesn't look completely into the season yet- but some great moves at time from him... he's certainly a class player. Coates- I have mixed feelings- at times he looks good- at other times he makes me scratch my head. He seems to make some really bad decisions. I think he will be good one day- but he needs to improve on decision making. Kelly - I'm pretty convinced Kelly is going to have a great future for us... always looks much better than his years. Shelvey - See Kelly above. I think Shelvey has a brilliant future. Johnson - Much better game today... he seems to get much less involved on the left though than the right. Overall- I'm not convinced the Chicken-Tika-Taka-Masala is completely cooked all the way through to be honest... we played well, especially considering the opposition- but we're giving away some really sloppy balls and making some careless errors and not always pressing the way we should. We can be happy with the performance given today- but realise we still need to improve if we want top 4... that wasn't good enough. It was good... and happy with the result but we CAN improve.
so nobdoy noticed the ref put both hands on lolarovships and thrust himself upon his vicitm then..... it'll be all ove rthe palce tomorrow.
We drew because of a school-boy error, however there is lots of positives. Raheem Sterling looks to be growing with every first team performance, and Joe ''Iniesta'' Allen has definitely justified the faith and the money spent on him.
One thing I did notice... Whenever we conceed- or miss a sitter... or something doesn't go our way- Rodgers plays with his trousers. Anyone else notices that? It's like- if he feels uncomfortable with how things are on the pitch he is double checking his belt is still keeping his trousers on and his shirt tucked. Will have to watch if he plays with his trousers during interviews... might give some hints on how he really feels. Keep an eye on him against Hearts and Arsenal- see if he keeps checking his belt and trousers when we do something bad.
Allen is like Xavi in the sense that he's rubbish for fantasy teams, because he doesn't score or get assists. In the real world he's brilliant, in the fantasy world he's more useless than a defensive policy dreamed up by AVB.
Joe Allen is not a goal scoring attacking midfield player, he's a link man who will do a great job for you. His strength is his pass rate accuracy and his calmness as he makes very few mistakes. If he gets 5 goals for you that will be a good season for him.
reality is that if we've got sahin, lucas and allen we've got a really good set up in midfield. allen amde a few brillinat passes in attacking poistions and sahin can do this also. I'd love to se gerrard fired into the front line with suarez and stelring as borini looks lightweight and not at the races for me. pushing gerrard up will give us a lot better balance as i fel he was in poistions which perevented shelvely from pressing more while gerrard wasn't bothering. you could see shelvey wanted to press right onto yaya but gerrard was well up but not closing down so shelvy had to hold back.
