What? We changed to 442 for less than 10 minutes. It wasn't even given a chance. We were just playing hoof ball to 4-5 strikers from 80 minutes onwards..that is after we pissed about with the ball between the defence and midfield first..should have just gone long as soon as possible if we were doing that rather than wasting 90% of the game getting no where
Can't argue with you because I know little about tactics...it's just players running round with the ball to me. However, Adkins did say that after switching to 4.4.2 we left ourselves open for 10 mins.
I wasn't sure whether they were Pompey fans on a wind up or some of the more moronic element of the Saints support. Probably a bit of both. Whatever, it was excruciating listening.
We were not unfortunate , if we had won it would of been fortunate , Wigan fully deserved their points .
True but to say we were unfortunate insinuates we were somehow unlucky yesterday when in fact we got everything we deserved . They used their possession wisely , we did not , they took their chances , we did not .
His passing was ok, but his touch was dreadful. I don't have an agenda against Guly, but from saying it as I saw it, he had a shocker. I appreciate that he can be a good player, but bloody hell is he inconsistent. Can we bring in a better player? Yes we can. Being an important PL player requires maintaining a certain level of performance and I have my doubts that Guly is up to it.
For goodness sake will somebody shoot, run over, drown, poison, strangle or suffocate this guy to give us some peace from his inane ramblings. From the absolute crap he writes I am convinced he has to be one of the blue few. He claims to have been at the game yesterday but was posting on here when the game was a few minutes old. His constant use of should of and could of leads me to believe he is at most 16 years old and still at home with his mum. I'm a patient sort of guy but this fellow is really annoying and has now been added to my ignore list. Would every body else do me a favour and not use the reply with quote function for any response to his postings as that will save me from ever again being exposed to the nonsence this drivelling fool writes.
I watched the game , that is completely different from going , where have i stated I went to the match ?
My First post on here. I have read many posts over the last two seasons on this forum but never felt the need to join the debate. I was at the game yesterday, not a season ticket holder but go as much as I can, and sometimes wonder if I have seen the same game as many posters here. My main bugbear is Guly and his supporters, yes I have seen him play well on occasion but yesterday he was a magician - he did a disappearing act! How some posters here can still think he is the best thing since sliced bread beggars belief! When there is a 50% - 50% split in opinion about his performances and consistency, surely even to his die hard supporters it should start to raise alarm bells? I just hope yesterdays overall team performance will lead NA and NC to decided that we haven't got the quality in the squad, to bite the bullet and make the signings needed before the window closes!
Guly appears to be some people's favourite love-to-hate pantomime villain. Is he really any worse than any other player we have out there? *Caveat: I didn't go to matches last season and I haven't been so far this season, so I have not seen him 'live'.
It's not that I think he is the greatest player in world, but I don't see why he's been selected for stick. The only reason to go for a player is if he doesn't care and doesn't try. Not true of Guly.
I think that's hit the nail on the head Fran. Lot's of our players have had bad games. Guly always gets more abuse. Undeservedly so most of the time.
The problem with his critics is that they only watch him when he has the ball and they don't watch what he does off the ball. Also they are more critical of him than any other player. Others can play badly and not a word is heard while should Guly make one small error people are on his back straight away. Guly's work rate is phenomenal and you would realise this if you focused on him for a short spell in a game. I have played football and I have to say that if I was Nigel Guly would be one of about half a dozen players who would automatically be in my team along with Adam, Morgan, Rickie, Kelvin and Jos. For those who disagree with me then ask why does Nigel pick him week after week. He doesn't sit in his office and think "I know I'll play that useless prick Guly again that should wind up the fans". Nigel knows just how good he is which is why he selects him.
He ran the most and the fastest of our players in the Opta stats for the Man City game. I agree that everything may not be productive, but he must be drawing defenders to him and providing distraction. Lazy is definitely not a description for Guly.
Thought we looked very good today. Created two great goals from set pieces, but just some sloppy defending allowed Man City back into the game... hang on.
