What's the difference then? IF i abused someone in the street by mentoning that he is an Irish, Welsh, English, French,Hungarian, Polish then I would be charged with a racially motivated breach of the peace. The Irish, Welsh, English, French, Hungarians and Poles may not be a "Race" per se, but mentioning their ethnicity or background in a verbal assualt is Racism. There are many many examples of people being charged in such cases.
Rebel, just to confirm, if you were to call me a Scottish ****, then you would be being racist towards me?
And I quote "LONDON (Reuters) - Irish geneticists have used surnames and the male Y chromosome to reconstruct a one thousand year-old genetic map of Ireland that shows the Irish really are a race apart." IRISH geneticists. I rest my case As for the Milesians, if you type that into Wikipedia (ok, might not be that reliable but I'll take its word over "eircom.net" any day), you see "In Irish mythology, the Milesians were the descendants of MÃÂl Espáine". This also applies to the powells.com link.
Fair enough, but we were talking about the use of the term "racism" applied to sectarianism. Calling someone an Irish/French/African/Spanish/German bastard, could easily be argued as racist in common modern parlance. Calling someone a Protestant/Catholic/Russian Orthodox/Shintoist/Rastafarian bastard cannot.
Nobody is a genetecist But just because I don't practice a profession, doesn't mean I can't argue their opinion. If Sir Alex Ferguson thinks Darron Gibson is good enough to play for Man United, does that mean I cannot disagree because I've not got my coaching badges?
Here's an Irishman on holiday, complete with ****ting a child out his ass. Gene apart indeed... please log in to view this image
Yes, but presumably you would produce some empirical evidence to support your assertions to old whisky nose. Otherwise, the only conclusion that can possibly be drawn is that you are arguing from a position of ignorance.
