Just watching Sunday Supplement. According to some sources and papers, Cheick Tiote could be on his way to Arsenal, and 15 million is the reported price.

This was going to be talked about. Song has left, and they need a defensive midfielder.

But since the transfer window is closing on Friday, hopefully this is nothing but talk, but a few are coming out and reporting this.

Yeah, another paper reckons they are going to sign Cabaye. Can't see it personally.

Lazy journalism in my opinion. Lazy journalism always ends up trying to disrupt NUFC, wish they would just **** off tbh. How many times does Tiote need to come out and say that he's happy and wants to stay here.
15Million is not enough for him especially when he has like 5years left on his contract.

Wouldnt be surprised to be honest but after quoting £20 mil plus for him earlier i cant see us letting him go for less this late in the day. Hope we have a replacement lined up if he does go.

With Anita and Biggy I cannot see Ashley sanctioning another deal for a DM

As much as i like both of these lads neither is anywhere near Chiek yet. A replacement would certainly be needed and Pardew knows it.

Neither of them are Cheick type players though. Anita is a good tackler, he's got good vision and good feet, but he's not the same physical presence.

You need some steel in there. Jonas, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Anita in midfield, none of them could challenge a player like Yaya Toure, Lukaku.

With Tiote in our side, not only do we have his raw, physical power, but the midfield looks a lot more mentally solid.

I actually think that he will go before Friday for about £20 million. I honestly think that Anita and Bigi WHERE purchased to replace Tiote.

Song has came out and said he wanted to stay and he wanted a new contract and Arsenal basically ignored him. This is why I believe they had to ship him out because they have agreed something for Tiote.

I know its a little pessimistic but.......

This, plus with Song having gone, it is so easy for those lazy effing hacks that call themselves sports writers to simply say. Oh look Song has gone from Arsenal, who could take his place, oh look Cheick Tiote would be good from Arsenal's perspective, so let's just bang that one out and get off down the pub, sorry wine bar!
Plus, 15 million is not enough for our team to find a replacement like for like, nor do we have the time.
I hope it's not gonna be a case of selling him and then claiming we have loads of transfer kitty for next window.

Selling Tiote would just be unthinkable, I dont think Pardew would be naive enouh to do negative business so late in the transfer window again. I also guarantee that if Tiote does leave it would be for something considerably higher then 15million, he can command at the very least 20mill imo.

Yep agree that selling Tiote would be unthinkable, just like selling Andy Carroll was unthinkable at the point at which that happened too. In relative terms someone would need to offer 40 million for Tiote to be sold at the same going rate as AC, but money talks and always will.
If a bid in the region of 15/20 million does come in for Tiote, our Board needs to reject it, we need to keep him in the team if we are to progress.
Not only do we have to give this message out to the other clubs, we need to give this message out to our other players who may also be targets for rival clubs. We have to show ambition!!!! And not succumb when the vultures start circling.

I don't think Pardew would be naive enough to consider an offer of £15m for Tiote, but there could be a greater power than Pards that might.

It would be a terrible mistake, you don't just take a part out of an F1 car and throw another part in. It's got to be tweaked and turned and tested for hours before going onto the track. Tiote doesn't just play the game, he controls the game.

I suspect that a replacement would have already been identified so should the unthinkable happen this week we have someone we are able to approach.

If that is not the case and someone goes and no replacement comes in, it would be very poor planning on the part of the Board.
