Just been looking at caughtoffside.com and they have it that Joe Cole may be heading our way .......... "Loftus Road side keen on Anfield squad player. QPR are reportedly lining up a move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole as Loftus Road boss Mark Hughes looks to do some last minute business. Though the Super Hoops boss has brought in a number of new signings this summer he will not have been all that impressed with the opening efforts his West London side have put in during their first two Premier League matches of the season, which have yielded one point, one goal and a hammering at home to Swansea City. Hughes has brought in a number of experienced players in the latter stages of their careers as he looks to bring in the type of know-how that can help keep QPR well clear of the drop zone and has now set his sights on former West Ham and Chelsea flair player Cole and is apparently ready to offer around £4m for the Liverpool man. The 30 year old midfielder spent last term on loan at Lille where he secured regular first team football and helped Rudi Garcia’s side to a third place finish, netting nine goals and making 42 appearances in all competitions. A move to Ligue 1 helped to get Cole’s career back on track after a difficult first season at Liverpool. Joe Cole was sent off in his first Premier League match for the Merseyside club and things seemed to go downhill from there. Roy Hodgson was sacked and Kenny Dalglish declined to use the Londoner as a starter and then left for Lille last season on a temporary basis. There appears little chance Cole will force his way into the first team picture and the chance to re-ignite his career back in London may well tempt the Liverpool bit-part player. Brendan Rodgers has made already offloaded a number of Liverpool’s ‘old-guard’ with Maxi Rodriguez, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt all leaving during the transfer window and any decent offer for Joe Cole would probably be accepted, especially as it would also eliminate the England international’s £90k a week salary from the balance sheet."
IIRC wasnt he West Hams captain and played in the centre of midfield for them and did a good job for em?
Think i saw on twitter a Liverpool fan asking TF to buy Cole from them. Someone has put 2 &2 together to equal 33
I know it's Caught Offside so it's probably not true but you wouldn't have to offer £4M to get him from us. Most of us Liverpool fans would happily see him go for free if it meant we could take the rumoured £90,000 a week off our wage bill.
We don't need cole but who we should go after and is what we need is Essien of chelsea i was watching motd yesterday and i can't see him getting into the team with the players they hav in midfield. He would be the perfect player we need no nonsense player who can break up play.
