Ah bugger, you're right. I forgot RVP had also scored almost all his goals since the turn of the year. Yeah, he has 13 but Rooney has still scored more than anyone else in that time (I think!) and definitely more than any of our other strikers. Either way, nohlman's comment that he's not a goal threat is just plain bollox!
Can someone please close this thread down. It's not addidng to football debate what-so-ever - It's nonsense. If this was posted by a non Man U fan it would be closed immediately. Whoever is mod, please, for the sake of this site - close this thread, even the stats that are being banded around are false.
Ok it does sound stupid and seeing as its Nohlman everyone will just think it is another one of his idiotic statements but he does have a point of sorts. At the moment Rooney is being used mainly as a creative force, not as the poacher he was for most of last year. As he is playing a lot deeper it is only natural that he will get less goals. Of course he is still a goal threat because he is a quality player but in the position he is in now he is not going to be prolific.
He has a point about Rooney playing deeper, but he is wrong about his goal scoring potential. He had a bad start to the season, but has 9 goals in his last 13 games. If he'd replicated that over 32 games, which is the number he played last season, he'd have 22 goals this season. Ok, not as many as he managed last year, but that's definitely prolific when you consider Berbatov has 21 goals from 29 PL games, and Hernandez has 11 from 23 (although from only 11 starts).
