What could it be? They will be there to conduct a straight line test but what else will they announce?
Is that actually what it says, Bandy - "it's definitely worth to visit"? Joining some dots up for fun perhaps it's that Sam Michaels is joining from Williams to bolster Mike Gascoyne's team, or that the official rebranding as AirAsiaF1 is going ahead, or maybe something to do with the May 1st charity flight on which Richard Branson will work as a stewardess.
Maybe announcing the rebranding, did anyone hear the outcome of the court cases? Equally, thats something that could be covered by a press release, so maybe its something more car-related? I can't think what though. The Richard Branson thing isn't until May I thought, so I doubt its to do with that, unless its some kind of competition.
At first I thought it might have something to do with the court case, but El_Bando you make a very good point. When Red Bull were rumoured to be using a start only KERS, James Allen said that "at least one team currently without KERS is working on a similar concept" - realistically, he could only be talking about Lotus. Also this article suggests Lotus are working on KERS, which would make sense, as they aren't too far from the back of the midfield.
KERS is a good shout, although the article seems to indicate they'd trying to integrate the Renault unit, rather than building their own. I'm hoping its something quite different to the other teams have, but I think KERS is probably right.
Autosport are suggesting that they intend to take over Caterham http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90907
If this is true... I feel a bit uneasy about a fake lotus team buying more of the lotus history (now on the automobile side) as Caterham make the 7's. if anything then group lotus should be buying them back.
Presumably there was nothing to stop them if they'd wanted to. To be honest, the connection is very tenuous and probably meaningless to most people anyway; the 'Seven' hasn't been Lotus for nearly forty years.
