James Vaughan Also looks like he is moving to Huddersfield from Norwich. Mr Rhodes on his way perchance ??
Sunderland have signed Johnson from Man City for a reported £15m. Doubt if was a realistic option but if it was, that would seem also to rule out Dempsey going there. It also appears that L'pool have paid £5m to take Sahin on loan. Does that mean they are now loooking to pick up Dempsey for free next year or cheap(er) in January? Distrust conspiracy theories but if that happened I'd be very tempted ...
Bafe Gomis French papers are reporting that we have made an enquiry about the Lyon striker. They are a bit strapped for cash so who knows. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Ol-pied-part-cris-et-gomis-aussi/308319 There was also a report that we had also asked Evian again about Sagbo but I suspect that one was more a journo making an old 'french connection'.
Just found out something interesting if true Clint Dempsey has the same agent Management as Jordan Rhodes. James Grant Sports Management. Lyle Yorks who has a lot of American players on his books.
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...nt-to-play-for-a-top-club?source=breakingnews Sinking feeling - some solace in his final comment- but at £15-£20m, somebody is going to have a go methinks
Yes, a sinking feeling: Highly sought-after Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele has put a number of Premier League heavyweights on alert after admitting that "I want to play at a top club". Losing both Dembele and Dempsey would be a loss - not worrying, but a shame.
Sorry to disagree Gera, but yes we can live without Demps but to loose Dembele, would for us be a great problem, and if he should go in this window,i could see the likes of Hangaland, and Ruiz wanting to follow suit,if not in Jan then next summer.
Completely agree. 7 goals in our first 2 games has shown us that without Dempsey we can still score goals, without Dembele we would still create chances, but nowhere near as many. He at the moment is the centerpiece of the team, all of our attacking movements come through him. If he was to go, I'd have liked to see Sigurdsson replace him but obviously that isn't going to happen. How about Giovanni Dos Santos from Spurs? Always thought he was wasted at Spurs, a lot of raw talent waiting to be realised at the right club.
Not saying we don't have a nervous week ahead of us silkship, but this is goal.com cobbling together a bit of of old news with the obvious following a good performance yesterday. They (goal.com) rely on agencies picking up their stories for survival so inevitably add a bit of 'spin'.
I don't agree with the notion that if Dembele goes all our best players would want to leave, but Dembele would be a massive loss. In any case, I don't see anything worrying about that article. If a top club put a bid in for him he'd be on his way, it's the same with all our players, him saying this to the press won't have changed anything. My biggest worry is that his contract has a year to run and he could (and probably would) leave for nothing next Summer.
I'm with Bidley. Dembele leaving wouldn't start an exodus, but it would be a big blow. Quite simply, we don't have anyone who does quite the same things as him. We have tricky dribbers like Frei and Kasami, but I doubt that either has the maturity to fill Dembele's boots right now, and Frei certainly doesn't have the physical strength. Ruiz can dribble and weave but, again, lacks the strength. Dembele is the one player in the team whose absence would force us to play differently. It's a bit worrying that with a week of the window to go, he felt the need to basically issue a 'come and get me' plea.
Did he though Captain. I've searched the Sport 1 site (referenced in the goal.com article) and can't find anything specifically about Dembele, certainly recently. Is this not a re-hash of earlier reports? I did find this however video highlight's of yesterday v ManU - http://www.sport1.nl/nieuws/38855-united-klopt-fulham-in-spannende-strijd.html
The People are saying that it is Rogers who is keen on Dempsey and a L'pool bid is in the offing - http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2012/08/26/liverpool-approaching-10million-showdown-over-fulham-s-clint-dempsey-102039-23921400/
I don't think it was that at all, he was probably asked if he would move should the opportunity arise and he said yes. He also said "it makes sense" to play for us.
You might be right, Cottager (and Bidley). In the link that Silkship posted I read the lines 'Personally, I would like to go to the top' and 'As long as there is no bid, nothing happens' as saying, 'big clubs, put in a bid.' It's all nuance, but if I was the manager of a champions league club, his words wouldn't make me think that a bid would be a waste of time.
If any of them wanted him, they would've bid for him (apparently Man Utd did) if he'd kept quiet or not. He's got a year left on his contract so in the same situation as Dempsey. He said the same things when he signed for us, I wouldn't read to much into it.
Roma are now saying he's not for sale. Presume this statement was as part of a post-match interview, rather than an unsolicited comment, so probably has some credence - http://www.football-italia.net/24344/stekelenburg-not-sale
Douglas He's been granted nationality status so if a transfer is to happen it's likely to be in the next couple of days. The signs are not too good that it willl be to Fulham however - wages!! http://www.insidefutbol.com/2012/08/27/work-permit-complications-removed-for-fulham-and-newcastle-target-douglas/67741/
