We played awful? Look at the match statistics - the different was Wigan scored twice and we didn't. We weren't clinical - that doesn't make us awful. Get a grip please.

Wigan were good and passed the ball well and closed us down quickly.

They embarrassed us at one time with their keeping of the ball for long periods.

I think it would have been a different game had Adams first half shot gone in.

Our boys are still a little naive but they will learn.

It was good to see a competitive game of football but rather sad to hear the negative and down right stupid comments from some Saints fans on Solent.

All the sad buggers who cleared off after the second goal thank you. I was able to walk down the terracing and the stairway without being pushed and shoved and sworn at for once as there was plenty of room.

We do need to strengthen and Nigel and Nicola know this and are working towards it but thankfully they are keeping their heads as they go about it even if some of our fans aren't.

Saddest thing for me today was to hear all the Guly baiters/haters out again in force.

And what was all that booing nonsense at the end? Some of our fans could learn a thing or two about how to support a football club by looking at the way some of the Pompey fans support their club.

4 for the Ref some of the challenges he let Wigan get away with were a disgrace, Fox got clattered at least 4 times.

Adkins says changing to 4.4.2 in the 2nd half was a mistake.

Absolutely right and I hope Nigel learns from it. After the change, the midfield were too light and no one knew where to be. Wigan looked far too comfortble sitting on the 1-0 lead just calmly stroking the ball about.

We did not play awfully. The only difference was we made a few mistakes and they didnt. If anything we played better than them. Also 4-3-3 is the right formation. Just not with Guly and Rodriguez on the wings, neither are wingers. Phillips, Ramirez and a CB would sort out all those problems.

Anyone else hear people on radio solent saying about Adkins being useless at implementing tactics? Maybe Guly should have been subbed off today and maybe subs should have been made earlier but Adkins has managed to get the tactics right enough to earn us back to back promotions. So please, anyone criticising Adkins, shut up.

We had people asking for Adkins out after slight slip ups last year. There are a lot of VERY stupid Southampton fans out there.

Adkins is intent on learning all the time and will be gaining experience with every game. He has not suddenly become a bad manager because he has lost two games, including one against the PL Champions. After the City game, it was noted by some pundits how well drilled Saints are in attack. We are all aware that even last year our defence sometimes looked suspect. The team will not play better if the fans turn on them...sadly negative fans tend to be noisier than those who show a modicum of patience. If you are willing to enjoy the good times then you have to stand shoulder to shoulder when the team need our encouragement.

To a degree yes but WHY have we not strengthened our defensive position ? Why ? It was weak last year and if it stays the same we will do a Derby I suspect , why has it taken so long for that to happen , if he is learning all the time thats great but where will that lead us ? We need action before its too late , we need quality signings , quality not Championship players who show promise , quality or we are going down , thats not dramatic thats a fact in my humble .
