I just feel you are being overly negative, some people are being too positive and optimistic. The "realism" lies in between the two.
Adkins just been on Sky and he held his hands up to making a mistake in his change of formation. He said we had chances but in this league you get punished for mistakes. Asked to comment on foul before their 2nd goal..he said, ref didn't give it and you have to get on with it. Now that is realism.
I didn't think the back four were too bad today. The first goal was luck/good play from Wigan. The second goal was... well, not a goal. The defense does need strengthening, won't argue that. Just saying they played alright today.
I had a quick glance on the Twitter feed. Never again after a loss. That place is a shambles. Hopefully a few more additions during the week and we'll have a proper go at United. Blackpool won 4-0 on their opening game a couple of seasons a go... relagation. Chill.
From that Too much time on the ball and no end product . No killer instinct as Wigan had . That quality may be lacking and we could not assert ourselves .
I went today and was obviously disappointed with the result - Plus points - Thought the team generally played well and passed the ball. Clyne - look very competent at right back, good going forward and made use of space. Schneiderlin - looked good in the midfield, tried hard, broke up play and and passed well!! Lallana - much preferred in a central role, wanted him to have more time on ball! Bad points - The formation, I feel like we are trying to accommodate our record signing J rod Into a position he just isn't a natural in! The subs, not there was much to noose from! Guly - generally was very poor! We need to see 4 or 5 through the door this week!
No , realism is acknowledging we do not have the squad to keep us up , that will be acknowledged by purchasing better players , I got hammered for saying this obvious statement two days ago , this squad is not good enough to keep us in the Premier League , thats the truth and the main objective of this season . We need 4/5 players with experience of the highest level of we will struggle , Wigan are one of the weaker sides and they showed us how to play the game of keeping the ball and using it wisely , its an English trait to say we deserved more as we had the better half , thats simply not true , you get what you deserve and we deserved nothing form this and I think Adkins agrees . We were not good enough , thats no fault of the players , its a fault of the scouts , the board and the manager . This should of been sorted months ago .
Not606 was down for a minute or two so I went on Saintsweb to see what they were saying. It's not all over yet. Don't worry
Can you only buy a saints shirt from the club shop? Would love to be able to buy it over here in Canada, but not found it. Thanks
An anti-climax and sadly more negatives than positives, no matter how hard I search for positives. Played the game far too slow. Tempo was dead and it was probably about 10 minutes between having a meaningful attack at times, that will play into all Premiership opposition. Must play at higher tempo.... ... to do that, you need to either ping the ball around or have some pace in the team. We had none. Thought Clyne looked confused about bombing on. I think he was probably told not to as he never went to the byline (neither did Fox). Don't like Lambert isolated in the middle. Morgan had a poor game and looked lightweight in that holding role. Davis did ok and should have stayed on. Thought our bench lacked impact players apart from Sharp. I do wonder what the likes of Hammond, Chaplow & De Ridder think seeing players who have never played for the first time (or 1 game) picked ahead of them on the bench.
No. I'd love it if it happened but realistically just can't see it. I actually like the Saints' schedule though. Really sort of needed at least a point this game so that's definitely a setback. But the rest of this short series of tough games hopefully give Adkins time to figure out his squad and tactics and get the squad to gell in games they were likely to lose anyway.
