Guly was all over the place but not in a good sense, im struggling to think of anything he did well. I dont usually slag him off, he was good last year but, he dwells to much, doesnt make any forward runs and got bailed out by clyne a few times (Clyne had a good game IMO) at the end when he was playing at CM he kept passing backwards, this is in his preffered position. jay Rod was miles out of position and i thought he did well tracking back made some good challenges and some smart runs, nothing coming off for him though.
More bumper cars than red arrows this week. some credit to Wigan though. We may have got away with a performance like that in the championship - cant afford too many like that this year though
Crikey, when I signed up a few days ago, this seemed like a lovely forum, full of lovely people (Although I should have realised no such thing exists on the internet). But there aren't half some twats around here haha, gomarchingin being a prime example. Disappointing performance, we looked more under pressure here than we did at the Etihad. Passing was OK up to a point and then it would all fall to pieces when we tried to be too clever when we clearly weren't sharp enough. Rodriguez a non-factor on the wing, looks like that experiment might be heading for failure unfortunately. Guly had one of those afternoons where he was a bit all over the place at times, but he did put in some decent deliveries. And we were really daft in our half at times, gave the ball away numerous times and eventually got punished for the second goal, although it was clearly a foul. I'm not going to condemn us to relegation like some muppets though. I think todays performance was mostly down to mentally not being in the game rather than lacking quality. We've got new signings to come, and 36 games to go. You can't win every game even against the lower tier teams. If we won every game against teams in the bottom half of the table we'd be in the top 6. We should have got a result today, we didn't, it happens, move on!
Would not even bother thinking of a team for Man u yet for sure there will be some new CB's on the team and a winger
Last week we had a plan B in Lambert and Davis. This week we had no plan B. The depth in the squad is not strong enough for us to have game changers. The biggest disappointment is Nigel Adkins persisting with Rodriguez on the left. It's not slit the wrist time at all but hopefully we learn from this quickly. The longer we wait for the win, the harder it gets unfortunately.
Pompey lost 4-2 if it cheers you lot up. They didn't give up though, kept plugging away even when down to ten men. Barry has it right, you haven't bought enough players to compete yet. He always gets angry after Southampton lose. Passion, you see. Who was it that said Merson was an idiot for predicting a Wigan win?
Wigan didn't deserve to win though.A draw would of been a fair result. Their goal came from no where, their GK had a blinder. We weren't great, but we also weren't terrible either.
This is only the 2nd game and we made and scored goals last week and according to stats (whatever they're worth) we had more chances than Wigan today (not commenting on performance as I wasn't there). Too early to slit wrists. We will win games if we make chances and there are loads of games to go. Remember we have had a huge step up. Remember we are in the PL...the Championship looks tough again...if we hadn't made it there was no quarantee we would do it this year. Give Adkins and the team time and hope we get some new signings in. West Ham lost today and there are lots of teams with only 1 point.
who ever is doing the bbc live text and match reports is haveing a real digg at the attendance, on the live text they claimed it was "half empty" and on the report it claims to be "sparsely filled". how is nearly 30,000 half empty?
I think people are being a little harsh on the defence, yes we need another centre back or two and possibly a left back, but last season are defence wasn't great-especially away from home. I think we kept one clean sheet in our first ten away games-we ended up having the third best defence in the division. Keep the faith.
Very good on his day, but drops the occasional clanger. Like the other 15 or so underrated keepers in the premier league.
I just don't think the formation worked today, not having a go at any players as they are all still trying to find their feet.
Did look half empty on the TV to be fair. Don't know where they got that figure from because I could see a lot of empty seats.
My gosh - is there not another team you could support? I understand each to their own view and all - but I am failing to remember any time when you have been happy or content...
