Norwich played well, lots of good play from the midfield, vast improvement over last week. QPR were bad, I mean bad. I have no ****ing idea what that penalty was about but it was total bollocks from where I was sat. Same old **** refs, maybe the QPR board bought them too (I'm pretty sure they were over the hill) Cisse offside, again and again, it was farcical. QPR will feel jammy with a point but I guess lower leaguers will nick a point from time to time. QPR are definitely relegation fodder, whereas we look like we're on the up. And Ipswich got smashed haha. I'll take that.
I'll throw in my tuppence. Overall, we played well, totally dominated the chances, and must consider ourselves very unlucky not to get the three points. We should have been more clinical in front of goal though, and that is a worry ongoing. Martin (R) was unlucky to hit the bar, but Snodgrass, Bassong and Simeon with a couple of efforts should all have at least made Green work. My marks :- Ruddy (7) Was very unlucky with the penalty, and kept awake well with a good clearance away from Cisse, otherwise had very little to do. Garrido (7) A very solid debut. Looked comfortable on the ball, and didn't allow Mackie to do much. R Martin (7.5) Kept Hoilett very quiet, and also linked up well going forward. Bassong (7) Would have been higher but for conceding the (dubious) penalty. Otherwise a good, powerful debut. Barnett (6.5) Didn't do a lot wrong but conceding free-kicks is something he has to be aware of. Pilkington (7.5) Provided a fantastic ball for the goal, and a danger down the left. Profligate with his shooting though. Johnson (8) A terrific performance, providing a terrier like energy, and working over the QPR midfield. Howson (7) Would have liked him to get a bit more involved, but did well. Snodgrass (8.5)MOM Superb, always a threat and ran the midfield, probably should have scored from his header. Holt (7) Very good first half, pretty much forcing Hill to be substituted, but a lot quieter in the second. Didn't get too many opportunities. Jackson (7) Couldn't miss with the goal, but also got into plenty of good positions, just too profligate. Had two more opportunities where Green should have been picking the ball out of the net. (Subs :- C. Martin & Morrison for Holt & Jackson, no time to make any impact)
You're a very very bitter man aren't you. Stuck record or what.. Lower leaguers? Be very careful, Norwich didn't look like world beaters themselves. You'll have a lot of QPR fans on this board gloating if our squad manages to eventually start performing to the level it's quality suggests it should.
Lol the quality suggests? Maybe 5 years a go but there is a reason most of your signings are 30 plus and available for free. You are already beginning to discover why..
But **** QPR thy aren't important, why is important is a positive display from city and a good point of kick off from. I'm very happy with the performance, no hint of fear from the fulham game.
What we saw there was two poor sides that have some good players. as a team both offered nothing and you can see why both are strong favorites for relegation. I blame the managers who are poor tacticians and out of their depth...
Wow flavour of the month, who rattled your cage. Your early flourish may have something to do with both the teams you've faced are ****. Be interesting to see what happens when you play a better team.
i've got to be honest, qpr had very little quality on show yesterday. its almost become a running joke that qpr sign players past their best - its not strictly true, but you do not have a good side there. i was slightly surprised by how poor they were - even hoillet looked lost. the biggest issue is, they play like a bunch of individuals and because they aren't the best individuals, they can't do much. long hard season for both clubs in my opinion but we certainly had more positives than qpr did on yesterdays showing.
