LOL ....... Peter Osgood was another who could hardly stand up at one point but he did score a beauty against City in the FA cup damn him, someone once told me I looked like Peter Beardsley, didn't know if it was a complement or what.
Quite a lot, i've mentioned it before but i work at the hotel most away teams stay and for a while City used to send new signings to live there while they found somewhere to live. So in that sense i guess they're all City related. Personal favourites are Cameron Stewart because we were bitching about the ref after a game once, only to find out the guy sat at the table next to him was the very same ref - he took it well thankfully and we ended up talking about a few decisions with him, generally speaking Cam's great lad too. Ian Holloway when he was Leicester manager, It was around the time of the floods and we had a lot of the victims living there, he bought drinks for everyone in the bar all night and kept saying "stick it on Milan's tab". Also quoted as saying "we'll lose tomorrow, we're ****, our best player's the keeper and he's on loan" Better yet he ended up shirtless play-boxing with one of the flood victims at about 3am, it was video'd but out of respect to him being such a top bloke all night the guy who had it never sent it to anyone and just showed it to people. Vito Mannone, gave me £50 because i lent him my PS3 for a few days while his got sent to him. Fittest WAG too Tony Pulis, probably the nicest guy i've ever met, seriously. Most famous people that have stayed there are probably Sven, Teddy Sheringham, Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and a few like that. Unfortunately none of the big Prem teams stayed there. I remember getting really excited when Edgar Davids signed for Palace but he never came Outside of work i once bumped into Damian Delaney & Stu Elliott when they where here, me and my mate were ducking out of a lesson at school and had nothing for them to sign, so they signed our maths books Interestingly when Sven came with Leicester, he and all the coaches were sat drinking all night (it was NYE) and after he went to bed i asked a few who they prefered, Sven or Pearson? Every single one of them said Pearson.
if you looked like him with the ball at your feet then a big compliment, if you just looked like him, im sorry
me and my friend bumped into him last year in kings ale house, i stopped listening to him after 5 minutes because he was slagging anybody and everyone to do with city off...especially Barmby
I stood next to Alex Fergusan in the toilet at Willerby Manor at a dinner one night. I stood behind Jack Charlton boarding a plane in Riga Latvia after Ireland had played there. I said to him, "Funny place to see you Jack" and he replied " Why they play foorball here you know" Never felt so stupid in my life. Had dinner with Mike Summerbee once at a sportsmans dinner. Met most of the players from City in the 1966 season. Met Raich Carter and Vigo Jensen, who lived near my Grand parents.
Used to get to Boothferry a few hours before the game so i could fanboy stalk the players as they came in in the eighties. My best memory was asking Rambo Billy if he would score today, his reply (to a little kid), ' if i knew that i'd be down ****ing Ladbrokes putting a bet on!'
Of the current city squad I've met Aaron McLean and Tom Cairney. Of the past I've met Anthony Gardner, Craig ***an, Matt Duke, Daniel Cousin, Peter Halmosi and Gavan Holohan
he comes into my workplace a couple of times a week. He hates city and calls me a 'fool' for supporting them.
He's probably good mates with Barmby's old man, so wont have a good opinion of Nick. I used to go in Golden Ball years ago, he was a miserable git then too. One dinner he'd run out of every draught beer except Guiness. "Take it or fukin leave it" Ken said!!
Marlon Harewood at East Midds Airport in the Security Queue, had a good chat with him, hes a nice guy. Nearly all the hull city team, Rickie Lambert, I also Met Nigel Adkins at the KC at a Rugby Game! Also Stuart Elliott came to my work, to do a blessing for a lady who passed away and was a huge city fan, such a genuine guy, had time to talk to everyone.
I've seen loads of City players out and about, but not really 'met' them as such. The closest, and most awkward, would have been Craig ***an. Saw him in Revolution during the second Premiership season. He was sipping on a J20 with two fit birds flanking him, all over him they were. He was clearly gonna get a threesome that night. Think a couple of my mates got a pic with him, I can't remember if I did, I might have done. Pissed, I was. All of a sudden, a Man Utd supporting mate within our ranks decided to pipe up with "How come you're ****? It's your fault City are going down this year." Which seemed to turn the atmosphere rather sour. Craig, rather sensibly, seemed to just slip off, without speaking. He was still around the area though, and a few times seemed to hover around near us looking slightly mental, and then sliding back off again. It was like he wanted to do something about this insult, but wasn't sure if he should. Weird it was. You know when a friendly atmosphere just evaporates in a second, and is replaced by uneasiness all round? That's what it was. He ****ed off with his two hussies eventually to have crazy, Premiership footballer sex, presumably. We all staggered off to Pozition or something and just acted like even bigger twats. A juxtaposition.
When I was about 11 the company my dad works for were the match sponsors, So I got invited along. Met alot of the first team squad at the time. Dean Keates, Justin Whittle etc. I think it was the game we lost to Swansea and Jan Molby lost his job not long after. Adam Pearson gave me a new away shirt because one of the ladies in the group complained too him about the quality of the shirts. Then my dads company took out the 'portakabin' that Molby used as an office, he'd left loads of stuff which somehow ended up in my posession, His address book, His champions league flag thing, and some other Molby memorabillia. I've also met Matty Glennon in a Petrol station. He was my idol growing up so I was genuinly pleased to see him.
Met Sir Bobby Charlton in the KC car Park after we played United, most of the City players over the last 10 years through the Premier Club, Norman Whiteside at Old Trafford doing corporate against Reading, likes a red wine. was staying in Mayfair Thistle for the Olympics and bumped in to Roger Milla, Cameroon dancing legend.
I've met the grasping ***in( yes that's on purpose)a couple of times and he was sound as a pound on both occasions. Just the opposite to what I thought he'd be like. Unfortunately Rosey was the opposite to what I thought he'd be. Arrogant doesn't even come close, maybe I caught him on a bad day but I think he's a bit of a prick from my own personal experience.
It's a shame you say that, Rosie seems like a nice guy. I've seen Rosie rushing through Prinny Quay before, clutching a young child (his own, I guess). I don't think I want to meet footballers and chat to them, I'm sure they'll disappoint me.
Koren wouldn't disappoint you Party old son. True gent, the bloke is class on and off the pitch. He has more humility than most of our first year pro's. Joe Dudgeon is a great lad, as is Chester. In fact most of the players I've met are down to earth, decent lads. I thought Tom Cairney was a bit of a tit first time I met him but he's not a bad lad at all. Maybe Rosey was in a huff about something on the three occasions I've had reason to think he was rude and rather ignorant. Who knows?
Used to talk to Tony Norman when he took his kids to the park in Sutton Village, top bloke. Does anyone remember Don Robinson bringing Malcolm Allison into Kempton to meet the fans? Think he was the first famous(ish) person I shook hands with. Also met John Motson when my lad was mascot at West Brom in the PL. Been in the dressing room pre match a few times when my son was mascot and the friendliest was Phil Brown at Norwich,he was assistant to Parkie at the time.
